Bye then.

Should we let JDW know that Microsoft is planning the same thing?
Nah... get an Xbone. Or better yet, get a Wii U, I heard that has a long life ahead.
@naughtyottsel: Why is there always that guy who has to be the rude fanboy? I don't get it.
Wasn't being rude or a fanboy, you want to jump ship so do it.
Not our problem.
Stopped reading at "started leaning to MS" Lol a lemming in a cow disguise...again. At least try to change your routine a bit.
@Ragnarok1051: More or less just concerned with shelf life of the system. I'm not trying to be pro Microsoft or Sony. I like things about both. Just curious what everyone else's opinions are on the subject of current system life and potentially upgrading so soon.
What console in the past has gotten 8 years of life out of it?
$400 every 2 years is not a lot of money for any hobby. In fact, that's quite cheap compared to most.
You don't plan on playing any games?
I got to be a good samaritan and throw this out there for those potentially making a dumb decision although you really do sound like you belong on Xbox Live.

Xbox One = 501 total games
7% Exclusives (34)
1% Microsoft Exclusive (7)
19% Console/Timed Exclusives (97)
77% Multiplatform (387)
PlayStation 4 = 1,000 total games
10% Exclusive (98)
10% Sony Exclusive (96)
25% Console/Timed Exclusive (248)

If you're a casual gamer then you're looking at maybe 3-5 game purchases a year. At worst, that's $300 extra. $50 for PSN. So what, over the course of two years you've spent a grand total of $1100.
That's insanely cheap from a hobby's perspective.

In other words, Sony has twice the junk MS has, and I have to mention I do own PoS4, got it at launch.
@JDW_games: a fanboy would try to convince you stay lol. Just off your post there is no temptation to get you to stay in the ps community. Ppl like you never liked sony to begin with

The PS4 will have a longer shelf life than any other console this gen. The PS4K and XB1.5 won't change that. The closest competitor to the PS4 has half its sales and games.

I'm sure you've played them to know that, sorry but you're not fooling a soul lemming.
seriously, just wait for the deets, what if in the end it's only to play Ultra HD Blu-rays and upscale 1080p to 4K then it's not worth getting upset over
personally, I feel they should do this for some pretty obvious reason of snubbing early adopters, but more because it just sending all the wrong signals at a time they should be fully committed to providing more support and promotion for VR

and the majjority of those 1000 games are indieflops that no one buys.
In the meantime, no ark , no rise of the tomb raider, no forza, halo, magic , elite, gears,
world of tanks and smite coming way too late. No backwards compatibility.
It's very understandable that a ps4 owner is mad if sony is planning a new console while it has hardly any games. The xboxone doesn't have a lot of games either, but at least it has more games that people actually care about.

So you're saying those indie games sell well. If that was the case they would be on the xboxone too, smite is one of them.
Don't forget I have a ps4 too, i have browsed through the library , the trash in there is unbelieveable, it's the same with steam. They are on there but no one buys those games.
Some of you Sony fans are hateful haha. Tough crowd. I admit I haven't been on Gamespot for awhile, and lately just got back into playing games more. I'll be honest, I was always a NES, Super NES, Genesis, and Dreamcast guy growing up. I liked the original Xbox way more than PS1 or PS2. I grew frustrated with Microsoft when they were shipping out junky 360's. Rather than debate or come off like a troll (which I promise I am not trying to do), I would just like feedback on what the best option is in my situation. Figured someone may give me a better reason to stick with Sony. Thanks for the game stats @Legend002 but I do have plenty of logic and intellect. I'm discussing games here. Not life, death, religion or science. Cheer up people, it's not that serious :)

That's why world of tanks has tournaments with 150k prize money, because no one plays that lmao
World of tanks dev became a billionaire some time ago as well, probably because no one is playing his game.
Issue with Sony's plan is that of the TV owners in the world only 2% have 4kTV's, and a lot of that 2% are 4K TV's that are barely 4K. Just the USA alone in since 2015 till a couple months ago 1.3% of TV buys were 4K.
Considering we have Sony connected people verifying and leaking this, but nobody at MS is who definitely has given us info before, I think MS is waiting to see the reacting before they do anything./ IF they have something similar in the pipeline.
For consoles, having incremental upgraded, even worse with the main feature being 4K, is pointless if nobody has 4kTV's or display devices.
@JDW_games: you want discussion ? Get then a gaming PC. Too expensive ? Quit gaming then. Gaming is an overall expensive hobby. But arguing changing PS4 for Xbox One is just laughable at best.
Just glanced over the OP.
Do you remember how manny PS3 versions exist? Or 360s?
Not sure if serious ... you're talking different hardware specs and performance not diff models.
Save up some coin and build your own PC, there's nothing as rewarding as building it yourself and giving it life and see it eat up games at high resolutions and stable FPS not only that you get the choice of games like no other platform.
Unless you have a 4k tv it doesn't matter. Besides the Xbox One is not 4k either. PS 4.5 is not native 4k.

I'm using my Stig gif...the man that can fart the 8th symthony.
I'm serious of not being serious here.
If you don't want a PS4.5 don't buy one. Games will still work on the PS4. I am getting a PS4.5 on day one. I always want to own all the best!
Good for you. I'm not upgrading my PS4 and if as long as it's NOT mandatory for me to upgrade, I'll stick to my current PS4. I didn't buy the system for it's raw powers, I buy it to play new games on it and nothing more. The only thing I'll buy a new console is Nintendo NX, a true next-gen console, not the fake ass mini next-gen console.

I don't think you understand what Sony is talking about doing. This thing will have a better GPU and possibly a better CPU that will enhance the systems capability. This isn't just a "hey we made it smaller" "This one doesn't have the red ring" or "This one has HDMI on it" revision. This will change the experience all together.
That being said, I'm all for it.
@terminalyinsane: It does if the other machine runs games better than the older one, yes.
You either have to put up with second class games and the phasing out of games from retail for the PS4k, or buy a 4K Tv, a good one, with a good size, good cables, and then buy the PS4k. Also if you like VR buy that as well.
Sounds like a sales gamble.
@JDW_games: Well , when i was stating to some others the same thing , they thought i was overeacting. And imagine that im not even a PS4 owner to begin with.
I feel you and i totally understand you. And beleive me , you are not alone. All my current friends that own a PS4 , in real life or not , are bitter about it , some more some less but still .. bitter.
Also , personally i was about to buy a PS4 with Uncharted 4 release DAY 1. Now not only i wont buy a PS4 , not only ill wait to see what is PS4.5 but also SONY needs to convince me that this 3 years old console upgrage wont end up a trend because if it will , ill stick to PC gaming while ill keep an eye to NX.

Hey, I agree. As long as it is optional and doesn't impeded the life of the PS4, I am all for it. Now if it means that the PS4 would lose support, then that would suck. I know they won't do that though.

No, i know, i just don't feel like explaining a rumor.
Unless Sony flat out said it, then just stay with the PS4, and when games start to feel bad, give it to me and go to the PC.
