Is Microsoft's next hardware not going to be next gen? Just because Microsoft changed the way they're releasing next hardware, it doesn't mean: 1) There will be new hardware and 2) The hardware will be a new generation of improvements.
It's only absurd if you view it in a cynical way, as you seem to be doing. It took me less than a minute to concoct that OP, merely by tapping my fingers (such is the magic of a keyboard, what a time to be alive!). If that's your basis of "trying too hard", then I'm afraid that standard must be raised quite a good deal ;).
Also your analogy is way off there, my friend. Had I written a rant on it, that would be making a mountain out of a molehill.
