They wanted to charge $600 for the console as well. MS ruined everything.

I think that if they originally planned on selling the console for just $500, the price would've been revealed months before it did.

Damn. Well I would have certainly not liked it but I wouldn’t have not purchased games either. I would have just purchased fewer games at full price. They wouldn’t have gotten more money from me, I just would probably have fewer games. I guess options 1 and 3 fit for me.

As I stated in various threads complaining about games increasing to $70... unlike Nintendo games, most other games drop in price within a few months... significantly. I'm not worried about it.

The higher price would be a reason to stop buying new games and wait until they are discounted at a latter time or buy them used, so I vote for the first answer.

I read this and wouldn't have been happy about it, but I assume that Sony picked up on a lot of people not being happy about it and backed down some. It doesn't bother me that they were "thinking" about something. Only the final action matters.

Yep, just like they complained for the entirety of gen 7 about LIVE fees only to welcome it when Sony started charging for online with PS4. Sony didn't even have the decency to let their fanbase know ahead of time.

The price of games has been static for a long time, they are way over due for a hike. I remember when TG-16 games were $64.99 at Hills back in the early 90's lol.

They can price their games whatever they want to. I personally would only pay that much for a game that is either incredible or I know I'm going to play for 150 hours +.

Considering overinflated budgets make most games safer, less experimental and, overall, worse, no. I'd go back to fifty dollars per game if they were forced to find ways to make them fun again with the smaller budgets.

They need a good competitor again. I like Nintendo, but they're off doing their own thing while Sony beats on MS.

So what we know now is that Sony's PS5 games will be $70, however on the SeX MS is only charging $60 for Gears Tactics, and they added a character & missions for the SeX launch.

So MS at this point is still charging the same, but $10 saving won't sway the cows over to MS, they're too far gone.

MS being humbled at the start of this gen has made them consumer friendly for the most part, Sony on the other hand are less consumer friendly.

It's Sony, so whatever they say I must abide. I'd pay $1000 per game if they wanted me to.

Sony’s arrogance is approaching ps3 levels. Thank god for competition. Without it this would have happened. The PS5 is a nice system but if Sony had their way it would be DOA.

Sony will never stop making games like TLOU2. TLOU3 will be $150 with new Neil Druckmann tax. Ultimate Abby edition for 500 bucks. Its a steal for such a masterpiece.
