Nothing can be done about them. Once the boxed copies are purchased by the retailer, it becomes their problem. Far as I know, most retailers won't issue a refund of an opened box.
This is a smart and ballsy move from Sony. Microsoft needs to stop screwing over consumers by allowing this game to be purchased on their platform just trying greed people out like they always do. (remember no free to play online games can be played on xbl for free what a scam). It shouldn't always have to be Sony stepping up first every friggin time and then finally microsoft responds after tons of backlash. Enough is enough do what your competition is doing ffs. Microsoft needs to get some courage and be a respectable company for once. Be a man. Stop following do your own thing why is this always happening.

Wow. I have to say I'm surprised at Sony taking a stand like this. Just earlier today the news was they weren't allowing digital refunds. Guess the idea wormed through the ranks that that wasn't cool. Good for them
Finally. **** CDPR for being so hellbent on releasing this on all platforms, even after griping about the restrictions of last gen hardware. It wouldn't have killed them if this game was exclusive to PC for at least a year until they ironed out a functional next gen console version.
And **** Sony and MS for certifying this shit in the first place. This game is the very reason all the console makers should be one hundred percent focused on getting new hardware on the shelves. I argued with people until I was blue in the face about scaling down next gen games to old hardware (instead of creating a separate version made to run on old systems from scratch), because this is the result you get.

So if you are fine with how it runs on PS5 via BC and have to reinstall it, can you? Since it was removed from store?
I imagine if you bought it, it is in your library. They aren't going to force you to refund it, and they should be able to provide you with the data for the game even though it's not for sale.
Steam at least does this, some games are not for sale anymore, but you can still download them.
The funny part is all the PS owners of a physical disc now have to play an even more broken version of CP2077 as they can't even download those updates.

@EZs: Sony got fined this year to the tune of 3.5 million for refusing to refund people money, they just dont want the extra work involved and to be caught up not giving refunds again.

Wow, that's going to hurt their bottom line. I haven't been keeping too much up on this aside from hearing the game's state is a bit of a mess. Is this QA on Sony's part, a disagreement with them about refunds, or what?
Interesting that Sony is willing to take a financial hit to shield consumers. Good on them for this "pro consumer" move.
This doesn't turn them fundamentally into a "pro consumer" company though. Remember this: none of the companies care about you, just your money. Never fall for that BS marketing.

Thank goodness I held off, decided to skip the PS4 version and hold off until I get a PS5. I'm sure it will get sorted out eventually, but sounds like they screwed up big time and the last gen versions are borderline fraud. Wonder why the PS5 version was also taken down though? I thought the PC/PS5/XBX were at least playable but buggy?

The crazy thing about this one is the PS4/XB1 were the target consoles of this game from the start, and it had a very long development time. How could they possibly have screwed it up that bad? You'd think worst case it would run about as well as Witcher 3 (with the benefit of years of optimization), and then the next gen and PC versions would just be "enhanced" off of that
Witcher wasn't a technical marvel or anything, but at least it was stable. I assume they used a totally different development engine or something and things got broken?

Tough situation there for Xbox. They are got the worst version and a string attached at the same time. I would be scratching my head if I was higher management at Xbox now.
