Ohhh shit. DualShock who?
I hope there is a primarily black colored one at launch
And dang... this means the ps5 is most likely white :/
I guess the PS has launched in black long enough.
Is the PS5 going to be a Black/White box like the controller?
I'm glad they got rid of the massive light bar. They moved it behind the touchpad, but it's at least smaller and doesn't look like it'll drain much battery.
Why are the analog sticks have the same placement? The Xbox placement is better for every genre. Disappointing.
Finally! Looks good. Glad it has a built in microphone. I prefer white consoles over black just because everything is black and it's boring. So hopefully the console will be two toned also. I wish they said the approx battery life though. Anything over 10 hours is fine with me.
I guess we can expect the PS5 to be a white / dark blue console.
The controller looks pretty decent although removing the color scheme from the face buttons kinda makes me sad.
For the buttons, you’ll notice there is no longer a “Share” button as we had with DualShock 4. Don’t worry – it’s not going away. In fact, we’ve built upon the success of our industry-first Share button to bring you a new “Create” button feature. With Create, we’re once again pioneering new ways for players to create epic gameplay content to share with the world, or just to enjoy for themselves. We’ll have more details on this feature as we get closer to launch.
Pretty sure this is the patent that outlines ways people can essentially share game states instead of just images or videos.
@hardwenzen: I was thinking the same thing.
When you're holding this controller, your right thumb naturally rests on the buttons, and your left thumb naturally rests on the D-pad. You have to extend your thumb to use the analogue stick, which has always been a bad design choice.
I understand Sony has to try to look different, but I wish they would fix their flawed design.
It didn't take long for someone to say something about the joystick placements... I use xbox one controllers for my laptop and ps4 controllers for console and it's super easy to adjust. To me it makes no difference where the joystick is. In a way I like the symmetry but I'd also be fine with it the other way. Absolutely no reason for sony to change it.
@Planeforger: My right thumb is on the control stick 90+% of the time. If what you say is true, then the right control stick should also be above the buttons.
I don't like that they insist on putting blue light on their controllers.
And it looks like it's coming from the face of the controller this time so it'll be annoying when using it in a dark room.
Not really a fan of the new design. USB-C is good.
I guess we'll have to wait and see how it feels.
I'd like to see an actual pic instead of a rendering.
Did they confirm this controller to be compatible with the ps4 or do they want to milk us as much as possible?
Looks cool to me , but why would the PlayStation button be black and just blend in with the rest of the black? It should pop better.
The screenshots don't really show off the colors well tbh.
The bottom half is a dark blue and, the button seems to be a metallic gray / dark blue. lol

My Switch Pro controller lasts 40 hours.. don't know how they do it.
To me it makes no difference where the joystick is.
Yeah, same. Standard controllers have become so homogeneous in their design, most of their differences have become a non-factor to me.
Used to have a strong preference for the Dualshock layout, but now it's just whatever. Like if I'm using a controller on PC, I default to the 360 controller unless I really need a precise dpad.
My biggest concerns with new controllers are build quality and battery life.
@SolidGame_basic: Does the switch pro controller get 40 hrs with rumble on? If so, that ridiculously good and good news for the new controllers.
I believe it is USB-C considering its shape. The outside layer seems to be misguiding, but the inside is highly suggesting it is USB-C. Needless to say, I'm not a big fan of the contrast colour between the white and the black on that controller, but I'm super curious about the haptic feedback and more of the device. I approve of this change👌👍

Yep. Only Nintendo controller that really sucked with battery life was Wii U controller as far as I know. But the Wii U Pro controller had good battery life. I don't know what is Nintendo's secret.
As long as it fits in the palm of my hands, I'll be a happy camper regardless what it looks like.

Same here, as long as the controller is good, I don't really care too much about the little stuff at this point. Although, I did want the Xbox Elite series 2 controller for my PC, but I don't want to pay that premium price :P :P .

Thing looks great. A hell of a lot better then any controller Sony has ever made. I am very happy to see this.
Looks fine, looks like a controller. I'm sure just like with any controller it will have great things and minor inconveniences. Also pretty sure we'll be listening people saying the new PS5 controller changed their lives and made them become a father/mother.

lol No. That sounds so uncomfortable. I'm glad they kept it the same. My hands are symmetrical, the controller should be, too.
@joshrmeyer: The right thumbstick should never be above the buttons because the thumb would then be in a awkward/uncomfortable position because it has to bend here and there to press them in. Not everyone hovers their thumb flat over the buttons. The left thumb hovers over the thumbstick and the d-pad so you're good there.
The right thumbstick in the button placement IS a good position but the buttons in the lower position would hurt your thumbs because of the bend.
