Impressive. Their exclusives should always hit the number 1 spot at least on NPD tho but it's not always the case, pretty weird.

Not surprising. Best graphics, best games, best performance. All in one package. Rest is simply irrelevant.

Because their exclusives are varied. Not the mass appeal BS you're getting from MS. Who expected TLG to dominate sales? Nobody.

That's kind of the point. Sony is willing to invest in software when they are in the red. If they are operating well, then we should see more games (and we've already got a healthy amount of support from them).

I searched Google and found previous quarter revenue numbers. Is this calculation correct?

Q1+Q2+Q3: 330.4 + 319.9 + 617.7 = 1,268 billion yen.

FY2016: 1,649.8 billion yen.

Q4: 1,649.8 - 1,268 = 381.8 billion yen revenue for the gaming and network sector in Q4 alone.

= $3.43 billion.

Compared to MS's combined gaming revenue of $1.928 billion last quarter.

Granted this is 1 person saying this, so don't take it as fact just yet. If (again IF) true, those are some very impressive numbers.

So my calculation was not that far off. I got $3.3bn instead of $3.42bn.

Edit: Wait no, I got it exactly right: 381.8bn yen as stated in the report.

Sony grouped "games and network services" together.

Sony has a habit of doing this, it always ignored, it is what is.

Every gen has idiots saying this. Next gen will be no different. Some people don't understand that there are gamers there that aren't interested in PC or mobile gaming and will always need a console for their gaming needs.

Most of the sales data is skewed towards Sony. I would say they sold millions of units too if they paid me off enough.

The 3DS release in early 2011 it has 6+ years and has sold 66 million units,the PS4 is 3+ years and it at 60 millions...

The rate of the PS4 by far over shadow the 3DS sales rate.

By the way the DS sold 129 million units in 5 years and 6 months....lol

Eh, using 3DS to downplay the PS4, or using the PS4 to downplay the 3DS, strikes me as exceptionally foolish. Both are great systems that deserve to have done well, and they did. That's all there is to it.
