Sony commercials are better than Nintendo's

I mean, look at this ad, which recently won a Cannes Lion award for creativity. This ad makes you think, it makes you cry, and it strangely has no connection to video games until about the last 5 seconds, and that's what is brilliant about it. Brilliant, Sony.

Now, look at these Switch ads as discussed in a recent issue of Game Informer. They always feature people playing their Switches in random places. In this one case, the guy just walks into his house, drops whatever he's doing, and just plays his Switch. Who does that? I didn't even see the guy use his keys to enter the house. Is this even his house?

I would saySony commercials are clearly the winner in this comparison. Switch commercials have gotten stale over the years. Same formula - let's just show people playing their Switch in different places, because if you haven't figured it out now, you can take it with you on the go 😄

Sony's marketing is class personified. Comparing a Sony ad to a Nintendo ad is like comparing Shakespeare to Kevin James.

Switch commercials shows 99% of situation that never happens in real life.

Ads Wars? Comparing the two could be the worst thread I have ever seen and few gamers don't like ads being solved into their face either. But however, I'll point out that if we we're talking about Sony ads like those of Kevin Butler style, I would actually agree that Kevin Butler ads were better and not over the top compare to what we have now.

LMAO of course a Sony fan would think a commercial with a man crying at the end is a great ad. It is a beta commercial for a beta group.

Same dang group that loves the idea of the increased $70 price because it helps the devs of a global company like Sony. Paying for a few extras is worth the price for the tsunami of directors cuts of recently released games. I could go on.

Agreed, the difference between a thoughtful satire vs a well timed fart joke. Sony ads give you a glimpse as to what it's like to experience Playstation. You FEEL something. You LEARN something. You'll laugh, and you'll cry. Nintendo? "Hey guys, I can play my Switch on a raft. You can't do that with PlayStation" But shouldn't be enjoying the raft and paying attention to the rock you're about to hit?

Come on man, how often do you see people playing their Switch when you're out and about in your day?

@SolidGame_basic: Like I said, depends where you live, I live near Collage dome and I do see students playing their Switch in places and really, there's no shame of playing games on the go, so I failed to see what's the problem🤷‍♂️

That was bad.... Sony commercials crushed it during the early PS4 days. The 2 friends going head to head in various games while singing Perfect Day was an excellent commercial.

Say what you want about Nintendo's dumb family commercials, but watching soy boy cry to a naked Daryl over a PS4 game is not it.

To be fair ... the first Switch commercial practically sold the console, it almost went viral so yeah.

However, i do miss the Kevin Butler and the old N64 commercials.

I can honestly say I haven't seen a gaming ad pop up during TV or YouTube viewing in years. I have the ad free YouTube though, and I've been a cable cutter for longer than a decade.

Sony really needs to stop using that 30 year old sound bite at the end of every commercial. It's awful.
