Okay so Sony said last week in Austriala that they sold 6 million units which surpirsed everyone includding the Hard Core sony fans. Now any news to confirm or deny this after a week later.chansaet

Sony's shipped numbers = made numbers. They count every console made as shipped, while MS and Nintendo count every console shipped to retail as shipped.

Plus despite the price drop, I still see PS3 in just about every BB, CC, Wal-mart, Gamestop, etc I go into.

After June NPD was released, the guys at NeoGAF added up all the NPD, Chart Track, and Media Create numbers, and then accounted for the amount sold since the last Chart Track. It came up at about 3.6 million. Logically, PS3 would have to be at about 4 million sold. There's no way that they're at 4.48, like everyone claims. There's no way they've sold a million since June NPD was released, and there's no way that NPD, Media Create, and Chart Track are off by that much.

What's more, is that all three of those lame tracking sites have it at about 4 million. I know that they aren't all that accurate, but it can't just be coincidence that their numbers match up with NeoGAF's.

PS3 has sold 4 million give or take 150k.

4 million sounds about right because they have shipped 6 million and the PS3 has been selling like dog poo.

That is what price drops normally do. You will see a similar one for the 360 this month when its price drops.

While I do admit that nexgenwars and VGchartz are terrible sources, I have to point out that even if you go by NPD that the PS3's numbers don't stack up to 6 million.
