I owned the one on Gamecube and actually loved it so I really wanted to purchase "three houses" for Switch. However it appears to be sold out everywhere. Amazon, Walmart, Target, Gamestop. Is the series that popular or does Nintendo suck at actually making physical copies?

A lot of people on youtube/twitter I follow bought the game I think its selling probably better than Octopath Traveler did. (Which was a million+ Seller) This series ain't niche if it sells that amount imo.

Depends. Its a waifu paradise game so the bulk of crowd will be niche gamers. It probably same level of popularity to a Persona game and if you think Persona is popular then so is this.

According to the UK charts, Three Houses has already outsold Awakening and Fates.

As for the mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes, it is Nintendo's most popular and profitable game, more profitable than Super Mario Run.

I think that there was an article from GameSpot where a Fire Emblem producer wondered why the franchise is popular in the West.

It's popular, especially in Japan.

I got it on 3DS cause that system was must own even before 8th gen came. And it and MHG were the 2 games i bought after getting Pokemon X/Alpha Sapphire with the system

So again, as a handheld fan, I'll get Switch Lite for Pokemon Sword, and will get Fire Emblem to boot.

Well I can say the series has increased in popular especially over recent years. I've actually overheard people talking about the newest game in public spaces and that's something.

It's a niche series that was Japan-exclusive for ~10-15 years.

It's definitely growing in the West, and Three Houses will probably be the most successful one yet, but I don't expect it to hit Pokemon numbers anytime soon.

But yes, the game sold out everywhere here as well. There were about 5 people at my workplace who were playing it on the weekend, and that's usually a good sign that it's hitting a broader market.

Yup combine the fact that, its marketing has been pretty spot on with the fact that Pokemon is making an embarassment of itself with Sword/Shield and I can see why this has a lot of eyes towards it.

Fire Emblem Heroes also no doubt helped.

As well as the fact that jRPGs are getting kinda cool again.

Switch games sell out. More late-breaking news at 11.

And it is more than just Super Mario and Pokemon.

It was just several years ago that Awakening saved the Fire Emblem franchise as it was in decade-long decline in terms of sales. If Awakening sold poorly, Nintendo would have stopped making games for it.

According to the GameStop website, there wasn't a single copy of the game available at any store in my city a day after release. However, Best Buy had probably two-dozen copies in stock. Not sure what to make of that.

Edit: Ha, I see R-Gamer posting just above had a similar experience!

It’s a niche series that always has poor sales.

its not niche it could outsell a game like bloodborne. its a big seller imo I think 3 houses is breaking into the mainstream.
