Not really sure how much it could go for but probably quite a lot. If I had that kind of money to throw around I’d definitely want to buy it myself as it is a very cool piece of gaming history.

Probably a stupid amount of money.

Cue the buyer's remorse

Cool looking console, and given its rarity I'd say it could sell for 5000 USD. The problem is it doesn't have any games available.

At least you can play SNES games on it, so plenty of good games to choose from.

Probably more than I am willing to spend.. that much is all but certain. I would love to have it, and it would be the holy grail of my gaming collection, but I'm pretty sure my wife would kill me if I even considered it... lol

If I could get it for $10k or less I would strongly consider it, but then again, I imagine many people would.

It will hit between $100,000 and a quarter million. There's only one in existance known, it's nintendo and sony. It's the holy grail of nintendo collecting. Less rare nintendo items have hit 150,000.

Whoever sells it will become a rich person, that's for sure.

And whoever buys it must be a rich person.

I mean considering Sega Divers is usually listed around $3k it's a safe bet that this piece of history that never saw a release will pass $5k easily

It is an exclusive. Better question is

Is this a CD player that plays SNES games or an SNES that plays CDs?

It's an SNES with a CD player and a Sony controller.

rare editions of mario 1 sold for 100k-150k. There are multiples of those.

Only one of these, this bad boy is seeing 6 figures.

Guranteed the boys from Calgary on nintendage are picking this up. (they spend 100s of thousands of dollars on games weekly, oil money).

I remember this episode, back in the day. The question is, are there games for it?

I'm not sure. I may be wrong, but from what i remember, it was supposed to be a CD Rom add-on for the Snes. It never came out, so i guess there are no games for it.

It loads SNES cartridges from the top. The front facing part of the console has the disc loader. Similar concept to Sega CD.

At the time Nintendo had a partnership with Phillips and it was announced publicly. Sony was expecting the announcement to be in regards to their partnership for the SNES Playstation.

Things were rocky between Sony and Nintendo from there forward but in that time they claim a few hundred prototypes were made. Sony scrapped the whole project and the rest is history.

But IS it a Sony Controller though? lol

Nintendo never intended for Sony to make games for the CD format. Sony was only to produce audio and video disc originally. This device was agreed upon in 1988 when a lot of people were still using cassette tapes for audio. Sony wanted to make games for this device and that is when Nintendo tried to change the contracts. Nintendo used the idea of this box to keep people from buying the Sega CD, once Sega CD flopped. Nintendo went back to cartridge on N64.

It's Sony painting the word Sony on an SNES controller, so that makes it pretty unique as well.
