I like both but I take a good single player over a good online focused game any day.

Singleplayer. A good story, great characters, and a well-designed plot are what I love in games. With that being said, I must say that I still enjoy a good (preferably complex) online game.

Single player is the most important to me, with online being a nice bonus for some games, and I agree with the topic creator, some companies are fluffing the single player part to often these days

I want the game to have both, but depends what mood I'm in. If I just wanna kick alien scumm ass like durring a school week, offline it is. If I wanna kick ass like fridays to prove I'm better than most people on a server, I choose online. But if I just wanna party the night away with other people online, I choose obsdiain conflict/sven coop. (half life 1/2 mods)

While I do like games to sport some sort of online for replayability value. All in all nothing beats a good single player campaign.

I agree, if a game has good single player, it doesn't need online. Although online is a good feature, I wouldn't play a game that was built around it if the single player is weak.

If you had made a option in the poll for choosing " Both "; it would win hands down !

I think both ties with online in that case, and single player still wins, but by less.

It highly depends on the game. Some work better with only offline play, some work with only online play, some work with both.

Singleplayer by far. For the most part I find online gaming to be a waste of time. It gives me no more satisfaction beating someone online than AI and it's only needed in games that need teamwork. That's mainly shooters and they are one my least favorite genres. Singleplayer is consistantly more fun because with online gaming you can be playing with a bad group of people or a good group of people, while singleplayer is completely designed for your enjoyment.

My take is this; Oblivion is a awesome SP game but if " Two Worlds " has the same great SP game along with the option to go online with 7 others doing MP battles and such than you can see  " both " in the poll would win easily - unless players want less options???????? ;)

The single player aspect of a game should always be the focus.

You can't really lump it in that simply. Different games have different styles, In a racing game no online is criminal, while in other games single player fine and forcing an online mode just to have it is the wrong thing to do.

Silly? Interesting thought but GRAW 2 and Crackdown and RFOM are all fun on line and I personaly wouldn't call these games silly.

I know, I just think silly is a strange term to describe online play of the games I mentioned. If the poster is referring to little kids also screaming or people talking trash I understand his thought. I just thought silly was a strange way to describe the action in GRAW2 or RFOM or Motorstorm or Crackdown, etc...
