With Nintendo as another Japanese publisher, I wonder whether Sony has a monopoly of developers in Japan.
Remember Xbox 360 having some great jrpg's blue dragon, lost odyssey, eternal sonata were all excellent. They also had a tales of versperia game I believe it's something sadly lacking this gen. You can't blame ms though as the system is tanking in Japan so investing seems pointless.
@Pedro: Lost Odyssey and Eternal Sonata were among the top reasons for me purchasing a 360.
Diddo, along with the exclusive naruto game, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia and Enchanted Arms Japanese games were the ONLY reason why I ever got a 360...3x over (RROD)
Ironically, as opposed to the attitude of most xbox fandom on this board, Japanese games were the primary reason the OG xbox was such a good system compared to MS's other consoles. Ninja Gaiden, Dead of Alive 3, Otogi, Jet Set Radio Future, Panzer Dragoon Orta ect..
I still hold out hope we still see a few Japanese games on Xbox this gen. I wouldn't mind a Nioh port that game has always interested me.

Are Monster Hunter and Dragon Ballz not Japanese?
I mean, they can make one. The question is, why? Unless MS is paying full stop for development and marketing there's going to be no return on that investment. You'd have an easier time selling ice to Eskimos.
360 had a good number of games from Japan. I think it helped the 360 do well, if not in Japan ironically.
Really. What japanese games aided in the success of the 360?
It was for games like Magna Carta2, Lost Odessey, Last Remnant and the like....that I got the x360 as soon as released.
So for some, yes for sure!!!!
@Pedro: I will never forget how rekt Sony fans were when DMC, Ace Combat, Tenchu, and Eternal Sonata were announced for the 360. I think it was the same TGS even. Kinda fuzzy on that. Then there were the Mistwalker games and a Katamari Damacy.
Bro. 360 was crucial with the Japanese games! Cows were all bu-bu-bu-bu but we got Ninja Gaiden Sigma ...

Yeah but none of those games were system sellers for the 360 as far as I know. I don't buy the argument that the 360 was successful because it had Japanese support.
Waste of money! Games are usually just plain crap.
LMAO...and THIS ^^^ ladies and gentleman is the mentality of zealot xbox fanboys in 2018.
Because MS can't win, these toxic fanatics don't even like gaming anymore...explains a lot with them wishing Single Player games didn't exist anymore and encouraging the destruction of game industry with forced nicke-n-dime games as a service BS for every game.
M$ practices are the worst thing to happen t the game industry with corporate slave MS apologists following closely behind.
Does this mean Xbox won't get the up coming Personna Dance games Dancing in the Moonlight and Dancing in the Sunlight.
I wouldn't mind a port of yazuka, Nioh and a jrpg to come to the Xbox. It would be nice to have a bit of variety.
It doesn't hurt to cater to a wider audience and it definitely wouldn't harm MS to build better relationships with more developers everywhere. If funding exclusives is the only way to achieve that, then why not? It's not like they could ever dry up Sony/Nintendo's entire wellspring, and more games would be desirable for everyone.
Japanese devs made several exclusives for xbox360.
there is no reason why they should not make some for XboxOne.
Well, actually there is; Xbone has sold very few units in Japan, and japanese devs always look at the domestic market first. And if they do not see their game selling in Japan, they are not that likely to be interested.

No one says they were system sellers, but it did help the xbox a lot...Having a large spectrum of genres is a plus no matter what you say.
well i live in Japan and you can hardly even find microsoft products in the gaming section so no one would buy it
Did you find any Xbox in DVD blu ray section? lol

A house is made of bricks. Bricks are not made of house. Some people get it, some people defend 30~ million selling consoles in their fifth year because they have it all figured out.
@boycie: Are Monster Hunter and Dragon Ballz not Japanese?"
RE7 also among others.
I always said Japanese devs of course want their local fans to be playing and talking about their games first. So of course they put them above others. GoW was outsold in It's first week in Japan by LABO, fvckin cardboard. They are an insular gaming population.
I don't care for stuff like tales, persona and other weaboo games. It doesn't mean i do not like Japanese games. I love Nioh, bloodborne and souls, MGS etc. But for Xbox to get an exclusive from Japanese devs they would probably have to ante up more money then a company of their countrymen.
They sold over a million 360's in Japan which is trash but a lot better than the Xbox one is selling. Partly due to the investment in getting blue dragon and lost oddessy which I believe helped move a majority of the systems. If i remember correctly the blue dragon bundle even sold out in Japan even though it was partly because ms didn't have the required shipments for the region.
