Probably timed. Platform exclusivity doesn’t make business sense anymore.

Only reason it worked in the past was because PS platforms had a huge lead in install size compared to their competition.

Also each console architecture more different than it is now so publishers had to really lean on consoles with massive install size to make investments worthwhile.

Getting back to the style of the original Metal Gear Solid games, and bringing back Silent Hill are actions that would have me considering a Playstation. Two of the series that had me owning a PS1 and PS2, and a lack of good exclusives is why I've never owned a 3 or 4. I still think Playstation's golden age was the PS1.

Don't know about Silent Hill, but MGS? Man, that would sell a ton. Lots of Hideo Kojima fans out there. And I don't get the mad cow crack.

Let's see shall we, the entire Silent Hill franchise of games including HD ports etc across Xbox, PS & PC has sold 9 million copies, there's around 10 games in that, so less than a million each and its multiplatform.

MGS 5 was on 360/PS3/XB1/PS4 & PC and at last count had "shipped" 6 million copies, so again less than a million per platform.

Now argue how they are system sellers, or are you going to run away and cry now LMFAO.

And the best part is this is a rumour but you're getting excited over it already.

Konami getting rid of Kojima was the best thing they've ever done.

MGS 5 shipped 6 million copies at last count across 5 platforms, not exactly a ton, and Death Stranding was a flop, Kojima is a hack.

This is Silent HILLS. Not Hill. It will be the game based on PT which went viral. There were millions of people who loved PT and will buy a PS5 to play it.

MGS4 sold more as a PS3 exclusive than 5 did as a multiplat. Maybe because they made sure it barely had a story for the ADHD Xtots who only know how to pew pew pew.

A remake of the first would easily sell more than 5 did.

Given Konami’s troubled finances that were so bad that they had to delist from the stock exchange, I have a feeling they won’t be making any exclusives.

Not sure if a new installment in a niche series and another, more successful on that burned its public last time is really quite the same as acquiring Bethesda/id/Arkane/etc.'s IP.
