Silent Hill homage indie game that's actually good (Simulacrum)

I've been bummed about the lack of Silent Hill future prospects for a while. There's no shortage of awful fan projects (mostly Flash/browser visual novel games) but I played an hour of this one last night:

I'm not sure if the developer's native language is English because there are a few weird language errors here and there but overall there's a lot of good stuff here. It rips off from Silent Hill pretty heavily, but considering that Konami isn't making an more I really don't mind how liberally it "borrows" from that pool. Anyone else tried it?

That said, it's an indie game so temper your overall expectations if you haven't played it. The graphics and character models aren't necessarily going to be top notch but there's a decent amount of polish.

This is one of the reasons why I like PC gaming in general, because that barrier to entry is always going to be lower than console counterparts which means games that otherwise may not ever get to exist can be created.

On nice. And it's free. Gonna try it.

Gonna have to check it out. The name sounds familiar.

Yeah, they said chapter 1 will be free but as they release more content, subsequent chapters will likely not be and they may start charging for chapter 1 once they have a more complete game. Still, grab it while the grabbing is good.

Then beyond 1 through 3 (and a little bit of 4) your only option is the Siren series, which you've likely also already played. If it's any consolation, the SH games this one most liberally borrows from are 1 through 3.

Yeah, there was some buzz about this a while ago but I admit it fell off my radar. Nice to see it came around.

Why is the game titled Simulacrum
