I know Virtual Boy wasn't very successful. But when you think about it, the Virtual Boy came out in 1995 which is almost 20 years ago. And i'd imagine technology way back then made it almost impossible to have a good virtual reality experience. But Nintendo being arguably the king of innovation was attempting something that was way ahead of its time.

Now perhaps they can integrate it into their next console which should hopefully atleast be a little more powerful than PS4. Just an idea but I think virtual reality gaming has a lot of potential if done correctly.

I'm kind of the same, I want a Rift because it seems fun and could open up some neat new genres but it's hardly practical and for most games it's worthless. So if I was offered both, with a set up that could run both flawlessly I'd rather have a 4K monitor.

Anyway, on topic, no they shouldn't make a Virtual Boy 2. The Virtual Boy was a failed, terrible product, why would you ever attach that name to anything every again? If you're going to use an old product name you do it to draw people in, not to instantly scare them off.

@EnergyAbsorber: Already made one and it was a breakout success- it's called 3DS.

Leave it to the professionals. These days everything is too much trouble for Nintendo. They would bring out a cheap arse alternative still in headache inducing black and red and all the Nintendo fanboys would be saying "they can't manage to give you colour, this is the best thing ever anyway!"

well, 3DS has the 3D, and the WiiU has the low sales, so we kind of already have it in pieces

Really now? I may have defended some things Nintendo has done people consider "behind the times" or, at the very least, brush it off as not a very big deal, but come on. No one would defend that.

@nintendoboy16: I'm obviously exaggerating but NIntendo could release a version which was lacking in man ways and the fanboys would indeed excuse it.

It was such a breakout success they made the 2ds to replace it because....no one actually cared about the 3d aspect of the 3ds and most kept it turned off.

No it was a breakout success not because of the 3d aspect. It sold well because its a ds system. Plain and simple.

@Gargus: And because it's a Nintendo handheld, which sell no matter what. But I've never known anyone who has actually kept the 3D on. It's a gimmick.

Are you high? The virtual boy was one of the worst things Nintendo has ever designed. The technology wasn't there to make games that would adequately take advantage of the VR concept, but more importantly, it was uncomfortable and awkward to use. I'd like to think Nintendo isn't stupid enough to make another piece of hardware like the Virtual Boy. It is for the best that Nintendo does not resurrect the Virtual Boy brand. It needs to stay dead.

@Gargus: the 2ds isn't replacing jack shit. It's atrocious form factor is meant to appeal to small children- y'know, the only demographic that's supposed to be vulnerable to the potentially harmful side effects of viewing images in stereoscopic 3D.

Yes and while they're at it, bring back the power glove. Just imagine how cool a person would look, they would have on a virtual boy on their head, a set of power gloves, holding a wii zapper, standing on the wii balance board.

yea I agree as well. Hell, I'll even take a 1600p if they come at affordable prices from well known brands. Though it might be too taxing on my gtx 670

Now the technology is available, it is something they should try again but I think they should ignore the original virtual console completely.

Don't care about VR and even if I did I wouldn't trust Nintendo to make a quality version.

They should probably call it the Virtual Man. People will think it is a kid's toy and it will get no 3rd party support if they call it the Virtual Boy.

@nintendoboy16: I think I can be sure. History is on my side with this.
