Gematsu

Sega Games has trademarkedTabegoro! Super Monkey Ball in Japan. “Tabegoro” means “ripe,” “in season,” or “good to eat.”

Monkey Ball first launched for arcades in 2001, followed by GameCube as Super Monkey Ball the same year. The latest entry in the series, Super Monkey Ball Bounce, launched for iOS and Android in September 2014, but was removed from sale in 2015. Prior to that, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz launched for PS Vita in June 2012.

Sega has not announced the development of a new Super Monkey Ball title.

Is probably nothing or something disappointing. But even though I have the GameCube originals (I'd get the PS2 "Deluxe" version, but the controls ruined that port), I wouldn't mind the original two Super Monkey Ball games getting an HD remaster for all platforms (Switch/PS4/XBONE/PC), even if they have to retry the "Deluxe" edition (by fixing the controls, especially now that the Switch has like two different GameCube controllers to work with).

I'm one of the biggest Sega fans there is, but Sega have lost the plot ever since they went out of the console business.

They have an amazing amount of amazing IP's and they trademark shit like Monkey ball.

Might be interesting with the touch screen and motion control too. Though not likely to be interesting enough for me to buy it day one until a sale and the last Super Monkey Ball one I played was on iOS. It wasn't fun at all due to the gyroscope controls.

At any rate, I'll gladly take a Super Monkey Ball HD Collection if that's what Sega is doing.

None of that changes the fact they have a shit ton better IP's to play with and yet they choose the low hanging fruit like Monkey Ball.

It would work best on switch but bring it to all platforms. Super monkey ball would sell relatively well it's a no brainier. SEGA baffle me at times.

Tried to get into the series on GameCube since it got so much praise back in the day. I found it to basically be a virtual version of this:

Which I thought was neither interesting or especially fun. The graphics were also bad by GameCube standards.

From all IPs SEGA has, reviving this shit is probably the most uninteresting choice.

As long as sega is still trucking on I will hope they get to the series I really want them. Monkey Ball always looked fun, might give this a go depending on the platform its on, but it's no substitute for a proper Phantasy Star or Shining Force or an Outrun 3.

Monkey Ball is fun. It would work well on the Switch because of (optional?) gyro controls and being able to hold it in your hands. So you can hold the screen flat and tilt it like a marble tilt game thing.

Really want a new game. Or at least give me a remaster of the first two games.

The first two Monkey Ball games on Gamecube were incredible. Among my favorite games of that generation. The series went downhill after that though.

I would love a new Monkey Ball game that is as great as the first two on Gamecube or at least a remaster of the first two games with added online play.

Sega is a really complicated company honestly...

I wouldn't read too much into individual moves one way or another though that I can be fairly sure of....

it might not mean anything Companies of all kind do this all the time period...
