I believe SEGA have contributed to the DD space better than other other 3rd party developer and they're not done yet.

On May 22nd you can expect the following titles on PSN:

  • Wonder Boy in Monster Land (Arcade)
  • Wonder Boy in Monster World (Mega Drive)
  • Monster World IV (Genesis/Mega Drive)
  • Super Hang-On (Arcade)
  • Revenge of Shinobi (Genesis/Mega Drive)
  • Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Master System)

*OH MY GoooooooooD!

You can also expect the games coming in collection form on XBLA a week apart, first part on 23/05 and then on 30/05.

http://blogs.sega.com/2012/05/18/vintage-collection-3-on-the-way-to-xbla-and-psn/

And soon after that Virtua Fighter Final Showdown and Jet Set Radio!

Haven't those been on Virtual Console for a while now? Still pretty cool though. I played so much Super Hang-On as a kid. Hell, I still do.

Too bad Revenge of Shinobi will probably be missing all the good pop culture references like Batman and Terminator boss fights.

None of those are particularly rare and whether they have aged well is open to debate. I loved Super Hang On but racing has moved on. I doubt I'll get any prolongued joy out of the game past the five minutes of nostalgia. I loved Miracle World but even then it was ridiculous. When it was hard it was because of poor mechanics rather than being intentionally difficult. The Wonder Boy series has been very variable. I reckon the best was Dragon's Trap on Master System and they're not offering it.

You can get most of these on steam. It's an interesting little collection but it's hardly sega's big trump card. Just serves as a reminder that they used to develop better games and that time has long since gone.

Update Shenmue already and keep the arcade machines in it and you'll have my interest.

Yes I think they all are on the Virtual Console.

Wonder Boy in Monster Land (Arcade) May 10, 2012
Super Hang On (Arcade) May 3, 2012
Monster World IV (Genesis/ Mega Drive) May 10, 2012
Revenge of Shinobi (Genesis/Mega Drive) August 17, 2009
Wonder Boy in Monster World (Genesis/Mega Drive) April 23, 2007
Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Master System) June 23, 2008

So three of them were released on the Virtual Console as far back as 2007; and then three released on the Virtual Console just this month.

I'd liek to see them put Jewel Master in a collection. Its one of my favorite Genesis games but doesn't seem to get any sort of recognition from Sega when they do collections

That's nice and all but where are Virtua Fighter HD collection (with arcade ports of VF1, Remix, 2, 3TB, 4, 5), OutRun collection, Daytona USA collection, After Bruner collection and Shenmue HD collection?

Sega needs to bring more arcade (HD) ports and collections to the current-gen systems imo (and add online play in there).

It's pretty cool to see Shinobi there, but it won't have Spiderman, Batman, or Godzilla as bosses. :(

Monster World IV should be dope.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to trying those out, 'cause I've never even tried a lot of them before.

Heck yeah! A VF HD Collection would be awesome. Especially if it contained VF4: Final Tuned, and Virtua Fighter 5 R. :D Having online play for previous VF titles would be fantastic as well.

That's a good idea. I would like a Virtua Fighter collection, with online play & local. And i would kill for a port on the PC of that collection, it doesn't need to have improved graphics, just let them be arcade ports and with choosable resolutions.

Renegade_Fury
There maybe slight changes to design but I don't think the bosses will be outright gone. Probably be generic dinosaur, bat and spider creature instead, like Ive seen in other iterations after the Sega Mega Drive release..

Im not familiar with Monster World games but I will surely give them a try.

And still no Powerstone. Sega, you stupid bastards.

DarkLink77
I don't think Capcom would allow that, lol.
would be interesting if old sega games werent badcampzor
Someone hasn't played old SEGA games, or maybe forgot how to play them :o Alex Kidd and Revenge of Shinobi are still fine examples of fun gameplay.
