fairly modest requirements, they may have done a pretty good job on it. Just too bad that there is no chance I pick it up, since it really doess'nt appeal to me.

Why would anyone want to play this mediocre game on the PC? Are they adding a lot of additional content? Are they improving the game play? I see no reason to get this for the PC unless it's $5 like Lostrib said.

Talk about vague...

Normally you see i5 or i7 listed for the CPU with a base clock speed. For a GPU you normally see Geforce GTX 6XX series or greater.

Make a Ryse 2, if it's interesting and has good gameplay; I may give Ryse a chance just to catch up on a story.

Would be neat. Crytek likes modding on the PC. Though they usually don't have mods directly in the game, they just have the engine available for people to do whatever they want with it.

What would be awesome is if modders can extract all of the assets and gameplay code from Ryse and make custom levels.

A 4k framebuffer is generally only a few hundred MB larger than at 1080p. Just a guess at this point, but if they say you need 4GB card for 4k all those looking to achieve ultra settings at 1080p may see vram usage push somewhere into the 2.5-2.9GB range, so you might need a 3GB card for 1080p ultra.

One of the devs did say they are thinking about setting up a marketplace for Ryse assets to CryEngine EaaS Licensees. I don't know if the mods will be available to the general public though. I don't have any hopes after Crysis 3.

Darn. It's £35 on Steam.

For some reason I thought it was going to be priced cheaper than the norm.

I expect 2GB cards will be fine, There are a lot of expensive 2GB Nvidia cards out there and I'm sure Crytek are aware of that. Personally, I'm still glad that I got a 4GB version of GTX770; not that I'll buy Ryse, even if it's 5$.

Apparently the GBuffer in Ryse are fairly small, and its been designed this way as it was developed for the Xbox One's cache based memory architecture. UNless they reworked their renderer for PC hardware that 4GB for 4K claim from them means the GBuffer doesn't take up much of that +3.01 or greater vram usage nessesitating a 4GB videocard, thus it means 1080p will likely have certainly higher than 2GB vram usage at the highest settings, unless they reworked their renderer for the PC.

I suppose Ryse in a larger world, with super powers and Cthulhu monsters would be pretty great. Why did'nt they go for that?

That would be amazing. Day one buy then lol. I'm also guessing this game will come with an updated CryEngine SDK? Like every Crytek game on PC?

To the EaaS Licensees, not sure about all the gamers. And no, Crytek won't be updating the free SDK and Crysis 3 didn't ship with the mod toolkit. So, wait for confirmation before any day one.

As for Ryse I'll pick it up once it hits the $30 ish range since I'm a sucker for Roman games.

PC gamers wouldn't pirate a "meh" or benchmark game as much as you think they will. If the game actually did well and made people excited to play it, then people would "pirate it to hell and back".

That's exactly why they would pirate it. Game is mediocre, but it is a really good benchmark. People are not gonna be lining up to pay for a benchmark, hence it will get pirated to hell and back.

Crytek games always get heavily pirated, because they are visual showcases.

Witcher 2 isn't one of the most pirated games . 4.5 million illegal downloads is nothing but a wrong assumption . Crysis 2 was leaked 2 months before the release date and it was announced as most pirated title of 2011 , and 3.9 million copies were illegally downloaded .

Even that wasn't downloaded 4 million times , let alone 4.5 million . Many people didn't even know Witcher 2 exists until Xbox 360 version was announced , and they were like "Yay ! , Xbox Exclusive" .

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/128947/Report_Crysis_2_named_mostpirated_game_of_2011.php

Witcher 2 is no where to be found . Portal 2 was fifth most pirated game of 2011 and it was pirated 3.2 million times but at the same time it sold more on PC than both consoles combined .

He's right assuming you aren't using any higher resolution sampling based anti-aliasing and the engine isn't doing anything else (more buffers, higher resolution textures/shadow maps, etc) when running at higher resolutions.

Shader performance is king at 4K. That's A LOT of pixels to shade.

I wonder if they've tweaked at all. Otherwise, I don't imagine it even hitting the score plateau the Xbox One version hit.

That 4.5 million was made as estimation on the spot by the dev.

No real official figures for pirated copies was ever given. Just like Arma 3 having 100k pirating "attempts", not pirated copies

And no, crappy games like Crysis 3 are the most pirated ones.

Ryse will be pirated, like all pc games. But that's completly irrelevant since piracy doesn't work has an excuse for weak sales on pc nowadays

Crysis 2 if I'm not mistaken was the only Crytek game to get massively pirated for benchmarking while the other Crysis games got smoked by other games like Fifa in illegal downloads.

If I'd throw a magical number on how many copies I think Ryse will get pirated, my guess would be around 80,000 downloads at most (on a single site), which might seem a lot but it's no where close to beating the top pirated games which usually get 190,000+ downloads.

I think there was a number out there that Watch Dogs reached around 250,000+ downloads.

Crytek games have always been pirated. It's why Crytek is so vocal about piracy, and why they've made so many statements about it over the years.

I'm sure Ryse will step in the classic Crytek piracy footsteps. It's a mediocre, pretty game, much like other Crytek games. And people want to check them out as a benchmark. They won't pay for it.

Wouldn't it be glorious if this game sold 0 copies on PC?
