Can't wait to play this. This would also mean it doesn't clash with Days Gone.

If that's true then Sony has GOTY 2019 on lock.
Has a single publisher ever won GOTY back to back before?

I'm sure someone back in the 60s did.
Really need to play the first.
The remaster on PS4 is fairly inexpensive now. You really should play it. Its a modern classic.

But RDR2 was GOTY here last year
I'm not talking about Gamespot's worthless GOTY award. I'm talking about the overall industry wide GOTY for 2018.
GOW completely dominated the GOTY awards on most gaming publications last year with 193 awards compared to RDR2's 132.

Doubt they will debut PS5 with nothing to play like they did with PS4. This will be cross gen at least, and 2 different SKUs so they can double dip. We know Sony loves that! Curious how BC would come into play on that. Maybe there would be an upcharge to access more resolution or something.

But there are no "industry wide" GOTY for 2018. Just a sum of "worthless award" since it doesn't suit your argument, but keep on going
Last of Us is one of those games I’ve always just shrugged at and said “to each their own”. I own the PS4 edition, it game as a free DL game with the console when I bought it.
I’ve tried to play it several times and to be blunt, I just don’t think it’s a very good game. I simply do not enjoy the gameplay at all. It’s clunky, and feels very unnatural. It’s a shame too, because the opening always really brings me in, with the little girl dying and whatnot. I get all excited and think, “ ok, this time I’m really gonna give this game a go and keep playing, it’s populararity has to be founded”. And every time I put it down and delete it off my hard drive.
Just my opinion folks, but I don’t see what people like so much about this game.
Of course most people don’t care for the games I currently am playing so it’s all good.
3 Lems so far on here say it's coming next year. Scared? It's 100% coming this year as reported by multiple outlets. It just hasn't officially been announced. Sony skipping E3 just means they'll have their own conference, and the announcements will be there.

I've played it twice and can honestly say it's not that good. The combat and level design just aren't that interesting. Resident Evil 2 is the superior modern survival horror. Better (interconnected) level design, better resource management and better problem solving. I'm not that excited about playing as Ellie in the sequel.
This may be the only game that can stop Nintendo's colossal tidal wave this year.
Eh, it's only one game.
If Sony had this and a whole string of hit titles throughout the year, then they'd definitely be competing with Nintendo.
With just TLoU2 (and Dreams), Sony is basically just handing the market to Nintendo this year - and I don't even think TLoU2 will be out this year.
Woah, hoping either Sony or CDPR move the dates, there will be massive GOTY fanwars if TLoU 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 released in the same year.
I don't think TLoU 2 will win any goty at gamespot, they are pretty bias against Sony games and tends to pick games that is multiplatform. Though I really like their pick, last time a Sony 1st party studio won was with Demons Souls and Journey. Both games is collab between Sony and 3rd party dev.
I've been telling y'all for a while now. The Last of Us 2 is coming out in 2019. All my sources confirmed it.
Once the announcement is made, don't be telling me I made it up. You heard it here first✋

Quacknight and his GOTY awards lol.

Yeah because the xbox one came with so much to play at launch, I remember all those 90's exclusives on it oh an don't forget BC on day 1..
Oh wait. lol

Milton-Bradley used to have all the killer apps. Nobody's beating Twister and Connect Four on Metacritic!
Doubtful. With sony skipping this year’s E3, it’d be marketing suicide to launch one of the biggest game’s of the generation a few months later.
They might be skipping E3, but that doesn't prevent them by putting commercials right before every E3 event.
But hey I wish they will announce it in the next 3 weeks. My Best Buy Gamers Club discount ends at the end of this month.

So does Gamespot's GOTY considered less relevant than the other industries?
No individual award from review outlets means anything but a collection of awards means something.
When you dominate the GOTY awards it carries weight and that's what I mean by Industry wide. Unless both of you are trying to be obtuse by pretending not to understand how GOTY awards work. The majority of the industry picked their GOTY last year and it wasn't RDR2, it was GOW.

So, a pile of garbage is something.
Keep on spinning

Keep on damage controlling. RDR2 wasn't the official GOTY for 2018 no matter how much you cry and fake ignorance, that honor belongs to GOW.

Name the year there has been a single pick, I'm waiting.
I guess no game has ever been GOTY by your stupid logic. FOH with that nonsense.

I guess when The Witcher 3, Zelda BOTW, Half-Life 2 and all the numerous classic games people regard as GOTYs for their respective years came out they weren't GOTYs. Do you realize how moronic your argument sounds? FOH with that ridiculous fanboy damage control argument. The Official GOTY for every gaming year has always been the game that has won the most awards for that respective year.
