Rumor: Sony may buy Remedy Entertainment

I think MS is more likely to buy them, but who knows...

And being a Remedy fan, I hope Sony doesn't buy them because I don't own or plan to own a Sony console.

I doubt it would happen , but it would be good payback for Ninja Theory.

Its more like the chinese companies are buying them or infusing them with money. Bungie, Quantic Dreams they are all ****in with Chinese money now.

I kind of doubt it myself as I think Remedy would rather stay independent but you never know I guess. I think that it would be a good get for Sony though if they did pick them up as I really enjoyed Alan Wake and Quantum Break and Control is looking quite interesting.

The next Alan Wake? First story objective is free, $4.99 to unlock every objective after that. And unless you shell out $70 for the collector's edition, you will be stuck with a main character that looks like a rejected Minecraft beta character.

I hope they do. They can afford to buy Max Payne back and do a proper third game. They can also expand on Alan Wake with more resources. Hell, Remedy could even take over Uncharted.

I very highly doubt they'll buy them. If anyone buys them, it'd be MS since they seem to have a much closer relationship with them given that Alan Wake and Quantum Break were Xbox exclusives.

Would it really matter if Sony did? It's not like they have that much output. Unless they plan on ramping up hires.

Lol the Cows did the exact same thing with Ninja Theory and Obsidian Entertainment.

Both were praised on both sides as amazing studios, but once MS bought them, cows immediately switched to: "Obsidian and Ninja Theory suck. Never liked any of their games. They're all trash."

In response to your previous comment about Bleeding Edge, it doesn't look bad imo. Sure, it isn't a system seller by any means, but I don't think it's really meant to be. It's more of their side project. They've confirmed they have other games in development, so those'll probably be big games.

I like all their games and MS wasted a great developer. Sony is a good fit.

They have not been great since Max payne days which was thier masterpiece.

Alan wake was great thought but after that they gone downhill. quantum break suck and control looks even worse.

Please don't make me remind you how Insomniac sucked for lemmings but as soon as the make sunset overdrive they were great,or how Ninja Theory sucked but now are great and will do Tripple A titles.

OH i remember the backlash over the xbox 360 not playing any Splinter Cell on 2005 but you could play Barbie house adventures..lol

It was just compatible with 200 games on 2005,compare that to the PS3 more than 5,000 games it wasn't even close.

Again BC is a nice feature on day 1 when few games are available but 2 years after launch and in broken form who the hell cares.

And as a matter of fact in 2007 MS stopped adding BC games on 360.

Again BC is something MS pushed because they knew it was difficult or downright impossible to pull on PS4 to do the Jaguar not been able to emulate cell.

Looking at their history, NT never made a really great game. Heavenly Sword, Enslaved:Odyssey to the West, and DMC (the somewhat maligned game they made for Capcom)... those were the only AAA budget games they made before going back to being small indie studio after DMC. They showed themselves to be competent, and had 2 original IP in Heavenly Sword and Enslaved, though they probably don't even own Heavenly Sword IP.

Remedy is kind of similar, though I"d say Max-Payne is a much bigger franchise, doesn't matter because they don't own the IP and they probably haven't touched that franchise for over a decade. Over the same time-span Ninja Theory has existed, Remedy has basically been all about Alan Wake and Quantum Break. Meh.

I'm not sure either studio is worth "buying", as in paying a premium for. Now if they just need a studio to make a game and can "buy" them for the same as it would cost to get a new studio up and running. Then hey, why not. Both are competent studios. But the IP isn't worth much.

Nah. They only hated the Lemmings who said it would be better than Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us. Lemmings tend to overhype everything pre-release and use these types of games as megatons. Us Cows know Remedy from Max Payne.

If their new games fails, MS will buy them for sure.

Simple fact is that this gen cows hated BC when MS announced it, and when people started reporting that the PS5 was going to be BC (which Sony hasn't come out and stated that all PS4 games will be playable on the PS5) BC was suddenly great again LOL.

Even though I love remedy games like Alan wake on the 360, I wouldn’t want Sony to buy them. I rather let MS do it since they really need good exclusives

I voted yes because Remedy has showed in the past they will have no issues making deals to earn more it's just what they do.

• 2002 Remedy sells Max Payne IP to Take -Two Interactive
• 2006 Partners with Microsoft and makes Alan Wake a 360 exclusive comes to PC in 2012
• 2016 they release Quantum Break still under MS as a exclusive comes to PC as well
• 2019 makes a deal with Epic games to have their new IP Control a timed exclusive to the Epic games store
