Oh wow so... $599? Since I am sure the 3080 is $699 or something.
Don't know, how much more expensive is GDDR6X? 16GB of GDDR6 is probably not cheap either. $599 is a safe bet I guess.
It's pretty much over for consoles for me. I was thinking about getting a next gen system a year or so from now but I'll be getting a new rig instead. I don't want to deal with fake 4k resolution on medium graphical settings with fake ray tracing. PC with gamepass is all I need!!
ooooh, was kinda torn between getting a 3070 and 3080 so this might be a perfect compromise and that 16gb vram is enticing.
imagine it'll be releasing later than the other cards though
Now that sounds intriguing. I was in the air between a 3070 and 3080, but this may be the better option for me. I wonder when it'll release.
Christ this is just getting more and more embarrassing for consoles... if these specs turns out to be true, even the pro version of the consoles that will arrive in 3-4 years will be far far behind...
Does this mean there will be a 3080 Ti too? Hopefully. I'm aiming for the strongest build I can with some $ sense (can't justify a 3090 at all at this point).
Yet the PC games that are AAA can be played on a toaster lol.
What do you mean, PC gets most demanding AAA titles than any other system. If you want top tier gfx, bar none, for the most amount of games you go PC.
Did you forget to throw in your fake/arbitrary "Exclusive" modifier into this flamebait post? Because it makes zero sense at the moment.
This convinced me to wait... for RDNA2
More and more rumors suggest it will fight it out with the 3070, reading twitter comments by AMD personnel also shows the white flag. Hope I'm wrong but am getting to the point where AMD should just sell off the GPU side.

AMD doesn't need to beat NVDA at the highest level IMO. They just need to competitive and provide a better value. If BigNavi is at the 3070 level, but cheaper by 15-20%, that would be a nice option.

They don't but the closer they get the better, you dont want sell cards that are more expensive to manufacture for a cheaper price than the competition, nvidia makes big bank and can afford to blow more on r&d, which again makes it harder for AMD to catch up, a vicious cycle
Meh. I'll just get a 3070 and overclock the shit outta it.
My thoughts exactly. I'm good at overclocking and I just got myself a free 3070Ti without waiting a year later. The CUDA Cores on 3070 is a huge jump for the price $500.
I never understood that logic. Overclocking a card to try and match the performance of a better card is just silly when that better card can also be OC and maintain a performance advantage. Also, your OC is only as good as the silicon lottery allows.
@lhughey: Trouble is AMD hasn't and WILL not sell a card for 15-20% less than Nvidia at the same performance... They cannot afford to.
Look at Fury, Polaris, Vega, Radeon 7 and Navi... 4-5% at best in difference for price to performance compared to Nvidia.
15-20%... That would be them selling a 5700XT for RTX 2060 prices, not happening.

If you can match a 3080 performance (or even surpass it) on an overclocked 3070, do you really need something better for 1440p? $500 with 3080 performance for 1440p is the perfect sweet spot.

Overclocking is just free performance... It's literally you installing after burner sliding the power slider all the way up sliding the core clock by 60MHz and VRAM clock by 350MHz this can be done by every Nvidia GPU with ease will give you free 4-7% performance boost.
The silicon lottery only play's a part when you try to overclock past the average chip of the card you have, but every GPU from Nvidia can overclock without issue and give you free performance and unlike CPU's GPU overclocking actually does improve framerates at every resolution.
I would much rather have a stock 8700K and overclocked 2080 Ti than a overclocked 8700K and stock 2080 Ti for gaming.
The first thing I will do when I get my 3080 is 29TFLOPS if I can overclock it to 32TFLOPS it will close the gap of the 3090.
