has over 3x the raytracing performance. On top of everything Sony has confirmed there will be more and more first party games ported to PC and of course there's Gamepass. So I ask you, my sweet baby boys. Why get a console at this point?

In before the cow herd going:
“Bu-by-but you also need more than a gpu to play games( conveniently forgetting their cost for the Tv, pairs online etc etc)”
@djoffer123: Those things are only in favor when it works for them , I remember those years were suddenly every of them owned a gaming pc to play xbox exclusives lol.

I mean, it's true, you know. Even if it is well worth $$$.
Well to be fair you also need to factor in the rest of the hardware to complete the PC around that GPU. Kind of unfair to compare just the GPU to a whole system. Personally I just prefer consoles myself, just find them more convenient and comfortable for my situation. I never expect them to outperform the PC space simply due to the respective nature of the two platforms.
Good look with the rest. With this upgrade, and including a rough 3080 price, i'm spending almost $2500CAD. I'm torn on going 3800x or 3900x, and I also have a 1TB NVME4.0 in there.
Still, Nvidia dropped a bombshell with the 3XXX series, and I doubt we'll see AMD come close, which is a shame.
@Archangel3371: yeah that's true and it's a better idea to upgrade everything but you have the option to just upgrade the GPU and still get nearly the twice the performance of a PS5.
@lifelessablaze: Oh yeah, it’s definitely a great deal if all you need to do is get the new GPU. No doubt about that.
PS5's games won't be on PC at launch so people that want games day one will still need a PS5.
We still haven't seen BloodBorne, GoT, Spiderman, Persona 5, God of War, and Ratchet and Clank on PC which are old PS4 games.
Now why would anyone get an x-series x over a PC I dunno all those games moved to PC.
@Ant_17: @ProtossRushX:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH the absolute state of Snoys HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Just want to throw in here that Ryzen CPU's don't scale up in actual gaming performance like Intel CPU's. 3900X is actually slower than 3300X in some scenarios:

I beat all of BloodBorne including the secret final boss.

Thanks man, that actually helps. Gonna settle on the 3800XT. Good thing is that Zen 3 is using AM4 and confirmed to work with X570, so if they don't get announced soon (I know they're expected late 2020,) and if they're sufficiently better, i'll upgrade in a year or two. I don't expect a massive difference.

Whatever you do don't get a 3800x, its not worth the price bump over the 3700x.

1/6. Fake boy hyping games he doesn't play.
@lundy86_4: you should also consider there's no benefit to overclocking Ryzen cpus since they're made to do it themselves based on temperature and load. You actually get worse performance if it's always OC'd.
Whatever you do don't get a 3800x, its not worth the price bump over the 3700x.
I hate this looking for AMD cpus... I just settled on the 3800. It's been so long since using AMD that i'm really behind lol.
Lol, yeah you'll recieve no benefit from the 3800x over the 3700x. Personally if you find a decent price on a 3900x I'd go with that. Or roll with your 7700k a little longer and grab zen3 when that drops.
It makes me wonder if the nvidia announcement hurts sony and ms a bit. Ever since these two consoles were announced, everyone was saying how powerful they were compared to current pc's (on the Sony side you had nothing else but the ssd to talk about, tho lol), but now, well, that has changed. Not only are they much more powerful, but the price is attractive as well. You visit a "free marketing" site such as youtube, and everyone is now talking about the new gpu's, not the next gen systems, and when both are released and there are comparisons, its just gonna be even more negativity for consoles because they're most likely won't be able to keep up even with the rtx3060.
This might not be that much of a big deal for normies, but i have seen a bunch of them converting from console only to pc this generation, and the reasoning was always "30fps with drops is not okay anymore". Even the normies are beginning to understand how much of a difference it makes.
Not having to wait for Sony's games and not having to port beg sounds more appealing to me. Just give me the games when they are ready - Dreams , The Last of Us Part II , Ghost of Tsushima , Spider-Man Miles Morales , Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart , Demon's Souls , Horizon Forbidden West , etc. It's worth the cost.
I wouldn't wish having to wait or not getting some of the games at all on my worst enemies. That's cruel.

Haha, was about to post what @fedor said. Personally I'd grab that 3700X if I had to, but I'm patiently waiting for Zen 3+initial benchmarks, albeit I have the money for a new build ready.
P.S. I was also a little bit confused when I saw some some of the Ryzen benchmarks back then too. 😅

It's only $50, so i'm not too worried. I'm not getting this for about a month (too much going on,) so if we get news on Zen 3 before, i'll take them into consideration for sure.
Yeah, i've been so used to having intel, that i'm usually much more up-to-date on their goings on... I've been out-of-the-loop on AMD forever.

Damn, what a bummer. That's kinda confusing. You would the think that the higher model number would mean "better" across the board. Why do people bash Intel chips again? They seem to still be the best for gaming. I have to do some research before upgrading from my current i7-4770k

Well, 3900X is mostly a workstation CPU. On the bright side, you could get for most of the stuff, a cheaper, yet more power efficient 3700X.

Conveniently forgetting their cost for the monitor, mouse, keyboard etc.
Please wait until later today, please. There's a catch to this. Spoiler: my previous thread was bait, and power levels are bullsh-
The 3070 does beat the PS5's GPU and most likely even the XSX though, just to be clear. Just... not double, at least not in 99% of gaming scenarios. However, Nvidia's TFLOPS figure is 100% accurate either way.
@lundy86_4: Get the 3700X. The XT SKUs are a waste of money, as is the 3800X.
EDIT: Actually, don't buy now at all. The Zen 3 (Ryzen 4000) CPUs will blow current Zen parts and maybe even Intel out of the water. Just wait a couple of months.
I'm not buying for about a month, so if we get some Zen 3 news before then, and it's worth waiting, then i'll definitely do so. I do like that AMD doesn't just ditch sockets like they're going out of style, and that Zen 3 will work on AM4. Gives me the option to upgrade in a year or so if my CPU is feeling the pain.
Consoles are prefered due to it's simplicity.....and laid back approach. Why just pick PC.........throw in a PS5 aswell, best combo for next gen.
I can easily sell my 2070S and use the money to easily buy a 3080. Added bonus, I get to keep my old games.
If I had to sell my PS4 to get a PS5, that's 60% of my library gone lol.
@IMAHAPYHIPPO: OH NO NO NO PS5 BROS WE GOT TOO COCKY
I don't even know what you're trying to say right now. I don't speak 14 year old, sorry.

The XSX will be plenty powerful. The question is - why spend so much money on a GPU if you don't need to? Is it just for show?
@SolidGame_basic: Not sure why you’re asking me as I’m not into the PC gaming scene. I’m guessing that they’d want to run games at higher performance settings then what the XSX will be capable of depending on how demanding developers create the games. Maybe they want to future proof?
