If any of you have a collection of retro games, I'd recommend looking at what they're worth now as apparently there's been a massive surge in their value. I use pricecharting.com and was pretty surprised.

Obviously most games still aren't worth much but there are a large handful gaining momentum. As an example, my copy of Ninja Turtles on Genesis is worth more than $180. Dino Crisis 2 on PS1 is worth nearly $100. My copy of Zelda Twilight Princess on Gamecube is worth about $145. My copy of Parasite Eve 2 on PS1 is worth nearly $200.

I highly recommend checking. Perhaps this is the next system wars battle. Which retro system has a library worth more?

That must be a computer error. I was told gamers don't play old games.🤭

I know with eBay and Amazon some people just put up prices that they want, not necessarily what they will get.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised recently to discover how much some of my Dreamcast games are worth - most of my games aren't particularly rare, but are still worth a lot

Damn. Paper Mario: TTYD (PAL) is worth 140 bucks. Wind Waker with the OoT/Master Quest disc, same.

This was fun. Gotta check my other shit..

I hoarded retro games and consoles about 10 years ago when things were real cheap. A few years ago I sold a copy of SVC Chaos on Neo Geo for under $500 thinking I just hit the jackpot. That person just sold it on eBay for $1200...

Sadly I never started hanging on to my systems and games until the seventh gen. Out of all the systems and games that I had I most wish that I had kept my SNES and Neo Geo with the games that I had for those the most. Really would have liked to have kept the Saturn and Dreamcast stuff as well. I would imagine the Neo Geo and those massive cartridges command a high price these days.

Me neither dude. I've parted with some stuff in the past and deeply regret it now. Any idea what your rarest game is?

Yeah, I did that a couple times. Passed a couple things down to my son and daughter that they later traded in to get a newer system. On the last part, I'm not really sure as I haven't looked but recently did by accident notice a couple games are worth over a $100.00. My day one purchases of both Phantasy Star 1 & 2. ;)

Coolyfett was never into collecting games or retro gaming, but the Nintendo-PlayStation he got from grandma is really fun to play. Good to see games are getting the old comic book treatment.

I've been doing a lot of retro gaming over the last year, but with all the mini consoles as well as retro game packs on PC, such as the Genesis/MS collection on Steam there are a lot of legal ways to play some of these really expensive games. I'm sure I have a lot of original cartridges that are pretty valuable now. I recently bought a 1chip Super Famicom from Japan for $100, flash cart for $25, and the only game the flash cart can't play that I want to play was Yoshi's Island, but I have a Japanese copy of that coming tomorrow, so all covered there.

My Sega Genesis (I really should buy a new one for modding purposes) has a $30 flash cart as well, all the roms from my Genesis Mini and Mega Drive collection on Steam are played on that.

So, there's a lot of ways of playing these games for cheap. Re releases, ports, game packs, mini consoles, etc.

Oddly enough, just a couple weeks ago I found my SNES, Genesis, N64, Gamecube, Game Gear, and a NES, all of which I didn't even think I still had. I haven't tested them all yet, but I can confirm the SNES is pretty much dead as it would require me replacing the CPU or WRAM chip to repair. And the Game Gear is in desperate need for a recapping.

The funny thing is, Playstation 1 games on OG hardware look awful. Emulation fixes some of the issues PS1 had with properly rendering 3D. Combine that with internal resolution boosts, and other hacks (like soon the ability to replace all in-game textures with higher definition ones) and emulation blows early 3D era original hardware out of the water.
