Respawn says Titanfall 3 is *not* in development

Well, that sucks, but not totally surprised. I know the last game didn't do that well. Still, I enjoyed the series and would love to see a third game. In the meantime, I'll checkout Apex Legends. What about you, SW? Are you bummed by this news?

Nope, glad, FPS needs to be eradicated.

EA killed another great series before it started.

EA hate SP games so they turn it into battle royale.

FPS oversaturation is so last gen. we barely have SP FPS. or 2 or 3 SP FPS release every year. the MP side is oversaturated by battle royale.

although this years lineup is fantastic with Metro Exodus, Doom Eternal and Rage 2. through cyberpunk 2077 too even though im not impressed by that. and outer worlds.

Apex is phenomenal. Whatever Respawn is doing, it was the right move.

Word on the street is Titanfall 3 is switching engines. So Respawn used current assets on Apex and jumped on the Battle Royale train to make some cash while Titanfall 3 is early in production. Apex being so damn good eases any concerns I have right now, and I’m a HUGE Titanfall fan.

last 2 years has been dull but this year looks better actually in terms of it. 2 of them will be better than anything else release this year. one will be actually good.

then theres Dying light 2 which may or maynot classified as FPS. its first person story driven action game. maybe will feature guns.. dont know. theres outerworlds which is FPS/RPG.

I like Apex out of the few matches I've played so far.

Last 2 years have been fantastic with Prey, Titanfall 2 and Wolfenstein 2.

I couldn't be more spoiled.

you forgot Doom that beats all 3 combine.

Prey and Titanfall 2 were great but problem with Prey is it lack replay value. just one and done.

wolfenstein 2 is trash. should not be in same league. one of the worst FPS i have ever played.

Have you played the moon DLC for Prey? It's supposed to offer a lot of replay value.

Also they added new game plus post launch for free.

And the shooting mechanics in Wolfenstein are better than DOOM, Titanfall and Prey, so of course it's in the same league.

IMHO:

DOOM: best enemy design, love the locations

Wolfenstein: best shooting mechanics, love that you can dual wield any weapon combination

Prey: best environments, great setting and story

Titanfall 2: best pacing in both story and gameplay, love the pilot and titan mechanics

come on. shooting in wolfenstein suck. the gun sound like some water gun. it just only gory. either way wolfenstein is anti fun game imo. some games are fun and some are not. but wolfenstein is anti fun. opposite of it.

Have you played Prey: Mooncrash DLC?

If Apex became a huge success, and it seems to be so, they may never even need to make Titanfall 3.

The level design is kind of wonky also there are WAAAAYYY too many cutscenes.

Other than that, Wolfenstein II is cools. Doom is better.

I dunno, The New Order had better level design, but I still loved the level design in The New Colossus.

Also, Max Payne 3 has way more cutscenes, and Ghosts keeps praising that game.

max payne 3 is freakin masterpiece compare to wolfenstein.

yes it has cutscene but also have a great story unlike wolfenstein which have 3 hour cutscene of terrible terrible story.

plus max payne 3 is not SJW and feminist game. infact its opposite of it.

That’s really unfortunate to hear. The first Titanfall was very good and the second one was even better. I was very much looking forward to seeing a third one.

The first Titanfall had me hooked on the multiplayer. It was basically Call of Duty's gameplay pushed up to perfection. It was fast, frantic and reminded me of the great arena games of the day: UT and Quake. It also had amazing parkour with the pilot and that feeling you got when you got your Titan was always amazing.

Titanfall 2 improved on the first one by adding a kick ass singleplayer campaign, honestly the only thing that the first Titanfall was missing was giving your more context for the whole war that was going on. And the pilot/titan relation. And Titanfall 2 added that perfectly.

I'll try out this new game, but to be honest, Battle Royale's gameplay just doesn't look that interesting to me :/

Titanfall 2 was great, but the franchising of the series was botched from the get go. With MS getting its hooks in it trying to make it the next Gears for Xbox, a third party title they wanted to get under their wing exclusively. When Xbox One was waning after the first holiday, so went those hopes. It was discounted heavily super early to try and force sales and player counts.

So by the time the sequel rolled around, it was met with a shrug even though it was really good. Not to mention EA putting it up against Battlefield 1, expecting gamers to jump in to both titles at the very same time. BF1 won out. I kind of don't blame them if this is the route they go with the series if it's more successful.
