Resident Evil Village PS5 'Maiden' demo DF Analysis!

I played it this morning and was very impressed. Very sharp and love the art style. Overall, performance was flawless, but there was one instance where I felt like the frame rate dropped. It was really quick, but I did notice it. Not sure what it was really, but it seemed like a frame rate drop.

How about you, SW? Have you played the demo yet? Impressions?

I downloaded it but won't be able to play it until Monday night. I didn't enjoy RE7 as an RE game but it was a decent horror game. Glad Capcom removed the 8 in the title of this one as first person games shouldn't be mainline in the series.

Haven’t played it myself but I did watch a play through of it. The looks great though and I’m definitely hyped to try the other demo that will come later on. Truthfully though I’m just already hyped for this game from what they’ve shown so a demo isn’t going to sway me one way or the other.

I played through it, did not notice any frame rate drops, but like I said in another comment the lighting has some oversights. No shadows from the furniture in front of the fire for example. Might be limitations on the engine. Everything is highly detailed and convincing otherwise though. The atmosphere and story setup are great, can't wait for the full game!

Has performance issues, not entirely sure why Capcom released it. Although, it is only 10 minutes, so probably who cares. Strange how they are using checker boarding, is the game that good looking? We know first party will be the best looker and perform usually better.

The framerate is at least consistent with the reveal. 😂

4k, 60fps with RT and it looks great. But honestly I don't think it looks way better then RE7.

Really ready for the cross gen games to go away.

Finished the demo, but sure wasn't impressed by the visuals, looked very last gen. Art direction is awesome, but the lighting and especially the textures are pretty shit.

This game would've looked sooooooo damn much better if it had volumetric lighting like in demon's remake. Makes such a massive difference.

I don't think they said they're checkerboarding but it could be using some reconstruction that's almost impossible to see. Performance can use some work but like DF said it's a demo and not final code.

I can only see this as a win. They aim 60fps, get player feedback, performances and graphics will be improved in these 4 month And everyone will be in satisfactory state when game releases.

It’s unfortunate that salty lemmings like Pedro are shitting on the frame rate of a demo. I recall him defending Halo Infinite to death after its reveal, even though anyone with a brain knew it had to be redone from the ground up that’s how shitty it was.

Called it! Unimpressive textures and geometry held back by last gen. Doesn't even have full real time GI in the PS5 version.

I have been defending Capcom ever since RE7, and especially MHW came out. But them locking the highest difficulty behind digital delux is f*cking unacceptable. God dammit. They were steadily getting their shit together, and now this. I just can't get over it.

This thread is about the DF analysis. I do share the same concern you have about the framerate, but I still think the game looks great. I've read some comments that RE2 and RE3 graphics were actually better, which I'm not sure if that really is the case. Overall, still looks great to me.

I agree I'll going even farther then that. This shouldn't even be a RE game in general it should be a new IP just like how Devil May Cry was suppose to be RE4 in the early stages of development.

The early fanbase donot consider RE4 to be RE game as it went in new direction, and ditch fixed camera system.

RE7 and now village is more RE game than 4/5/6 which were action games.

RE games went from fixed camera horror, to third person horror/action to First person immersive horror. series always went with new direction.

CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk (Witcher 3, 3rd person epic game ) is FPS now.

GTA 5 had a FPS mode added to it.
