Remember when devs made us Christmas games?

During PS1 era and before, devs used to make Christmas themed games for the Christmas market.

The last gaming mags of the year would always have few Christmas game reviews in them, and you would say, 'Hey, Psygnosis has made a Christmas game! I gotta check it out!'

Anyway, Christmas games. Whatever happened to them? Why dont devs no more make them? I'm sure they would sell, and if they were purely digital, cheap games, it would not cost that much to make them for the big consoles either..

Heh, I vaguely but fondly remember festive Lemmings expansions and Christmas cover disk mods. We live in the age of DLC now though. Free (or not so free) Christmas-themed maps and skins are where we're at these days I think.

No, I don't remember. If these games were good, why does no one ever talk about them? It certainly wouldn't be a selling point for me. Unless it's a work of art, like It's a Wonderful Life or A Charlie Brown Christmas. But that isn't happening.

Would be censored here, that's for sure.

No. I've never bought a Christmas game. Not sure I've even seen one. Just some weird ass browser games like Elf Bowling.

Not really, I do remember that some games like simpons road rage(?) had the game turn Christmas theme on Christmas.

Honestly, I never heard of a Christmas game theme before in my entire gaming life.

There are:

“Christmas Lemmings” was great, as was Sensible’s “Cannon Soccer,” which blended “Cannon Fodder” with Sensi.

Mortal Kombat X and Killing Floor have seasonal events (as does Destiny and others) but I don't recall many full fledged Xmas games. A few obscure pc ones that are trash, but no actual retail games.

I remember Christmas NiGHTS and Jazz Jackrabbit Holiday Hare.

Christmas Nights of course, I do remember them. Lots of cover discs had them. Loved them all. Love games, love Christmas.

Sorry to be the Grinch here, but there are so many games that release broken and unfinished already. Why on earth would you want them to waste additional resources on Christmas stuff? Games would release in an even worse state.

They still make big budget Christmas movies, so why not Christmas games???

What Christmas games? Off the top of my head I can only think of Home Alone (which wasn’t really holiday oriented), and a bad Grinch game.

What is this ps1 plethora of games you speak of?
