Well statistically yes you'd be buying a game at its highest price at its least optimized based on today's standards. Buying games at launch is often a gamble for people who work hard for their money.

But what happens when it's off Game Pass, and you still want to play? This is what I don't get about the supposed wonderfulness about Game Pass. Games with high replay value don't really work in the equation.

Agreed. Ultra rich companies like Microsoft should not be trying to take advantage of their customers! They can afford $70 billion for Activision, but they want to squeeze an extra $10 from little Jimmy. Or they want Little Jimmy to pay $14.99 a month to rent the game. Tisk tisk.

GP is not even $14 per month like Kvally said you can get it by upping your Gold subscription for $1 every 3 years. I actually use a site that sells the expireable codes for 1 month of GPU and get it for under $4 US per month for GPU. The only issue is that I can not stack them so I have to wait for the previous month to expire to use a new code. That means I pay about $48 or less for a year of GPU

Also MS Rewards you can accumulate enough points in a month to get a month of GPU for free if you want (I save my points for hardware).

Since I save on GPU compared to Gold and I save on Hardware because of Rewards I buy games that I like off of GPU with the savings (or games that are not on the service). I just bought Gotham Knights in a sale. (I rarely buy full price games because well that is dumb 😊 )

I'd imagine if it were a game like rocket league that has literally thousands of hours of gameplay you'd pony up and pay for a copy. Could likely even get the game on sale once you're out of launch window too!

1st party games never leave GP. Also, no need to wait for a sale. If you decide to buy the game, you automatically get like 20% off even on launch day. ;)

GamePasa doesn't affect sales per Microsoft so it'll be interesting seeing folks fork over $70.

I don't see the big deal, it'll be 40% off on a sale 2 months after release anyway, and probably 60% off on a sale 4 months after that if you want to own it.

People need to stop being hypocrites. Game renting has been a thing since forever.

There will always be people that would rather rent a game, and not own it. And there will always be people that think €80 for forspoken is fine, just fine, and they will continue to buy games at absurd prices.

Reason I don't particularly care for buying games at the 70-80 point is because I buy two dozen games a year, and don't want to end up spending all my leisure money on one thing and one thing only.
