Locking story missions to get people to pay more? I knew Rockstar became greedy pigs, but I had no idea Rockstar was that hard up for cash! I guess they must have misplaced the billions they made from GTAV. And to make matters worst, Collectors Edition that doesn't come with the game itself!? And most of all, no PC version again!? Man these people are fucking classy!

This is a straight up hard pass RDR2 and I'll just stick to GTAV.

This is my most anticipated game of the year but yeah these editions are a joke. I'll just get the standard copy of the game for $48. An extra mission and a horse is not worth extra money. Maybe if the special edition included the steelbook I'd consider it but that only comes with the ultimate edition.

I’m super hyped for this game but putting out a Collector’s Edition of a game without including the game is simply asinine.

Sorry but this kind of practice I hate seeing coming from a company I respected years ago and now, they becoming more greedy by the day. Oh well, I'm sure you'll be happy with the game at least, so there's that.

Collection editions without the game makes no sense. I thought the whole point of a collectors edition was for physical collectors.

Perhaps only HALO 6 is higher on my must play list but this whole thing sounds fudged up to me. I'll buy the base game digitally but that's it.

Can anyone remember any "locked" single player content for any game (as opposed to separately available DLC/expansions) that has ever been anything except a poor, shallow bullet-point side quest?

I can't not get this game regardless of the paywalls SP DL content. The only way would be to wait for the definitive edition with everything included but that could be a year out.

I won't be buying any version as R* are the most overrated developer out there, and their name alone will guarantee mimimun 9's across the board and an easy 10 here.

I know how you feel. I kinda feel the same way. And I urge you to buy the game second hand just like me (or even borrow it from a friend) in the case that we can't resist even though they employ consumer unfriendly tactics like loot boxes. If that is no option for you, then buy it for real cheap from one of the cdkey stores, so that there is less of a chance they get money for it. And if the game is screwed because of anti-consumer practices (and you do play it), then please take the time to review the game on multiple sites so that we can warn other players.

Take Two may be the biggest enemy we as gamers have. EA has at least shown some response. Even Activision is reconsidering some actions. But Take Two has been nonchalantly praising anti-consumer practices all the way to the end. And employing creative ways to screw consumers in GTAV online while getting away with it. I could see them be the next company to be voted worst company of America if they go the extra mile to screw people over with RDR2. But of course, that is all just a hunch and maybe they won't. I really hope they won't. I really want to like this game.

BTW this means they are effectively selling easy mode for money, exclusive (you won't be able to even buy it later) single player content locked behind a special edition with a special price, and are selling in-game advantages for online play (otherwise known as pay2win). They're also offering ways to slow down their grind. Which implies (not 100% sure) that:

• They don't care about difficulty or balance.
• They will make the game extra grindy to make you want to buy items to speed things up (a-la Shadow of War?).
• There will be ways to pay2win in online play.
  This looks to be going the direction of Battlefront II. So like I said ten times before on SW: buyer beware.
