The mouse and K/B makes it the best version to me I have it on the PS4 but I hate, hate aiming with a analog stick granted I got use to it and beat the game but it was struggle and killed alot of the fun factor for me.

I7 8700, 16GB Ram, RTX 2080. Excited! 1440P at least, maybe 1800P?
Got a 9900k 1080ti, wouldn't be shocked if 1080p is all it does at ultra with 60 fps.
If its as optimized as ac odyssey.
Ultra is usually a waste of resources. You can get 99% the way there with some more reasonable settings.
I'm sure Digital Foundry will do a video about which settings have the biggest performance hit. If you don't want to mess with it I would just go a step down from ultra and see how that runs.
Based on the low, low minimum settings that were just released, I would bet RDR2 will be a well optimized game that will run well on a wide range of hardware.
@davillain-:
But Red Dead Redemption 2 is on Xbox One too, isn't it? I don't see how that's fair. I was just saying like, in general, that the pc screenshots of RDR2 look the pretty much the same! I could've been easily talking about the Xbox One version too!
@ezekiel43:
You talk an awful lot of negativity about some game you supposedly hate. Most people would've left it alone after the initial: "I hated it." and move on. What makes you wanna stick around so much?
But I didn't hate it. And why shouldn't I keep shitting on it? Rockstar's bad decisions deserve to be shat on on a consistent basis.
Console only losers getting frustrated and resorting to hyperbole.
Not hate, just not overrate.
People that own all systems don't need to overrate anything that is exclusive as there's no need to compensate for the fact they only had one choice.
The game had far bigger problems than the graphics... Primarily being really boring with the same tedious mission design R* has been doing fo a while now. Everything feels like a chore to do with tediously long animations. Wish I could tell PC-gamers to have fun, but they won't.
Great game... wonder if PC gamers will get off their shitty builder sims long enough to play it since they usually hate these types of games.
Are you a tool, or do you just believe you're one? How well did GTA V sell on PC, again?
"GTA V sold 10 million copies on Steam by Feb 19, 2018. Thanks to this milestone GTA V is the 3rd best selling non-Valve game on Steam, behind TES V: Skyrim at over 11 million copies (over 17 million if we count the Special Edition) and PUBG with over 30 million copies. The best selling game on Steam is CS:GO at over 40 million copies."

GTA V basically remained in steam's top sellers ever since it released on PC.
Same for console btw, lol. RDR2 has been out for a year and GTA V is still selling.

And not only that, GTAV is still the latest GTA series around and when it launch on PC, it became the highest selling game on PC and still is today, but that may change when RDR2 releases and lets not forget this is the only Wild Western game that happens to be good and we don't get many western themes anyways.

Apart from Desperados, Call of Jaurez or RDR, I can't think of another good Western themed game.
GTA V is the most popular GTA game ever on any platform, and that is largely thanks to it's online mode.
GTA IV definitely deserved more sales on PC, but it was bogged down by being a mediocre port and carried GFWL with it.
After that we had Max Payne 3 and not only was it released two weeks after the console version, it also had a terrific PC version. I think we will see similair results here with RDR2.
PS4 pro and X1X both run 4k @30fps, I wonder how well it will run on a PC then. Even though I've only got a 1060 6gb (OC to 2000mhz). I wonder if I could reach that.
150GB, that's with the 4k which is optional.
Trailer is dropping soon for PC.
Pretty sure only xbox one x runs at 4k, and honestly i wonder if its anywhere near high settings on a stable 30 fps.

Yeah looked it up it's native on the xbox but checkerboarded on ps4. I do expect its a mixture of medium-high otherwise it would be pointless. I set control to 4k and it ran at 25fps on PC with a 1060 6gb at medium-high, so I could see it working for the xbox even though they are 2 completely different games.
@DragonfireXZ95: Awwww ok. So what your telling me is all these supposed shitty movie games that hermits bitch about is only because they actually wish more of those types of games were available on their platform? So basically it's just butthurt?
Ok good to know! Thanks!

thats pretty good actually, i ran that shit show of a game on 1080p ultra and dipped to low 60's on a 1080ti all day long. It's pretty much that other game from them, that was also a mess on optimisation, exact same performance.
However if this game is running on a GTA 5 type of solution i could see this run at 4k 30 fps on a 1060 without much issue's.

Somebody is upset they don't get to play builder sims and get stuck with garbage like Red Dead instead.

That's what I was thinking/hoping. I did forget to mention my card is OC'd. I might download GTA V and see what I can get with that at 4k, my only concern with that is the textures arn't 4k.
@DragonfireXZ95: No you just didn't capture the point of the first post. I constantly hear people on this forum bitch about " movie games" aka single player Action Adventure titles with high production values. You see this argument often when criticizing PS exclusives. Yet RDR2 follows the template of many PS4 exclusives and hermits can't wait to play it.

I don't see the "movie game" argument much with open world games like RDR2. I see it a lot more with linear games like Uncharted or The Last of Us. Those games are great. RDR2 is about as exciting as taking your car for a 4 hour drive.
@r-gamer: Yeah, I don't really see that specific criticism with open world games. It doesn't make much sense. Movies are scripted and tend to be exciting. Most open world games give you a quest log that gets filled to the point of hopelessness within the first hour, a map that GPS pinpoints every place you need to go, and feelings of disappointment when you finish one of the thousands of side quests that amount to nothing more than traveling between a few locations and get nothing as a reward. Then you go back to the main quest and it's not much better.
The only open world games that I've really liked over the past decade or so have been the Arkham series, Spiderman, and Breath of the Wild.

Re-iterating what Purpleman said. RDR2 is not a movie game, but I could see why that could be the case for linear games such as Uncharted. Obviously, this whole movie game thing is just a frantic hyperbole that people use as a generic description.
First, @r-gamer, you said that the game won't sell well on PC because it's not a sim, and ample evidence of that not being the case is present. Since you lost that battle, you claimed that hermits don't like movie games, which doesn't even apply to RDR2. What hermit has claimed RDR2 is a movie game? Do you have proof? You are just claiming random shit to try to win a battle because you're obviously a tool exercising massive bias with failing arguments to try to win a battle here.
@DragonfireXZ95: Um not sure if you have Alzheimers or if you're just delusional because I never mentioned anything about sales. Try again? Would you like me to link you to threads about endless hermits calling PS4 exclusives[ open world games] shitty movie games?

You said PC gamers don't play these types of games, which means they wouldn't sell. Or did you mean to say that PC gamers buy these games and don't play them? Is that the story you're sticking with? Pretty stupid thing to say, either way.
@DragonfireXZ95: I'm saying you PC gamers, especially the ones here in System Wars act as if they don't give a shit about these games untill they come to your platform.
PC gamer here, still don't give a shit about it. Hell, there are a lot of PC exclusives I don't give a shit about.
Why must I like something just because it's on my platform of choice? Rockstar games are dumb games.
Looking forward to it. Most open-world games are kind of boring these days and frankly it's a trend I wish would die, but I hear good things about the RDR 2 open world.
@R4gn4r0k:
And it looks..... just like the console version.
In all seriousness, just about any screenshot that's not literally the size of the gaming screen will look like the console version due to inherent downgrading of visuals when taking screenshots, making them into smaller files, then posting them online to be viewed on screens that might be worse.
Hard to tell how good a 4K screen looks on a 1080 p monitor.
...
... I'm sure it'll look "better" on a beefy PC, which costs thousands more than an X.
Meh. Maybe a few hundred dollars more. We aren't that rich :P
Meh, it's got okay graphics. Definitely not top tier.
Top tier for me at the moment is stuff like Metro: Exodus and Battlefield V, looks incredibly life-like at times.
Yeah if RDR 2 can get into that realm of fidelity I will be happy. Visuals are not everything--lord knows I love my 2D pixelated stuff, and I appreciate visual style over realism--but in games like this it certainly helps with immersion.
@davillain-: lol! 150GB is pretty huge, it's actually the highest requirement for the specs.
And COD will be 175GB. Not going to buy that anyway but, pretty crazy.
I wonder why.

What on earth takes up all that space?!
Usually it's cutscenes and audio, but there can't be that much, can there?
What on earth takes up all that space?!

I was actually surprised by AC: Odyssey's space requirements:
It's a beautiful game, has a massive world, is fully voice acted, and it weighs around 50GB. Which is really low for what it offers, so I guess it has good compression.
COD games are known for weighing a lot. COD: Infinite Warfare for example weighs around 105GB.
What could take up a lot of space is the 4K textures and uncompressed audio. But for COD and RDR2 I think it's also all the post launch games those games are getting.
GTA V has definitely increased in size too with all the online updates.

At this point it would be a good idea for games to install only the language(s) of your choosing instead of installing all languages without asking.
I heard some reviewers say that it is probably because on PC they cannot guarantee that you are running an SSD so they have more data redundancy and that's not true. A program can request info on what type of HDD/SSD it is installing to.
@DragonfireXZ95: I'm saying you PC gamers, especially the ones here in System Wars act as if they don't give a shit about these games untill they come to your platform.
Yeah, because system wars is the complete collection of PC gamers that don't buy games. If you have to relegate random arguments to system wars, then you have no case. Just like console gamers, some of us will buy it, some of us won't. What is your actual argument here?
@DragonfireXZ95: This is system wars hence why I made the argument here. I've made my argument clear multiple times.
No, first you said PC gamers don't play games like this because they are busy playing sim games. I pointed out that GTA V sold over 10 million on PC, which negates that argument. Then you said that PC gamers say this is a movie game, and they hate movie games, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone say this is a movie game? You have yet to link proof of that. Now you say that PC gamers don't give a shit about these games in system wars. Yet, many already own it on console or say they are going to buy it on PC? Your argument has shifted 3 times, and each one doesn't have a shred of proof to back it up.
At this point it would be a good idea for games to install only the language(s) of your choosing instead of installing all languages without asking.

Just like HD textures being free DLC you can download, I wouldn't mind the same options for VO packs.
Size is probably because they ram all the voice / video's of all languages in 4k with lossless audio ( no compression ) into the folder and call it a day.
To gain minimal performance and don't have to provide multiple solutions.
This is easily fixable to giving compressed versions and cut down versions to users. but they are to lazy to do that so they just make 1 big version and call it a day.
However this will just result in people not downloading the game or playing it as result It's incredible dumb way to do things. specially with PC having 120 and 256gb ssd's these days.
@davillain-:

Well, that's usually how cows like to defend their exclusives and the way you worded it and also defends Sony in other posts it was pretty easy for me to call you a cow. Usually cows are the only faction that have trouble accepting PC has much better graphics than their precious exclusives. Most lems and sheep don't have this kind of problem.
I usually don't respond to alts and trolls but let me explain it AGAIN. Calling every game with cutscenes as movie games is a pathetic excuse from you cows to defend your shitty press 'X' to win one and done template games. First that's not how a term movie game was coined.
Secondly, Neither RDR2 nor GTA V follow Sony's template. GTA V is massively popular on PC because of its Online mode as well as support for insane mods. Oh wait, I forgot these two concepts are alien to you being a cow. If it were just like Spiderman or HZD or UC4 it will only sell comparable to how games like AC, WD, Far Cry sell on PC. It has a market because PC gamers are much more diverse and way more out there than all console gamers but it doesn't sell anywhere close to the number games like PUBG, CS:GO, RE2, MHW etc sell on PC. So yes, in general PC gamers don't like 'movie games'.
I'm sure your ilk will keep trying to label every game with cutscenes as movie game still.
@pc_rocks:
I've got no problem accepting that pc has the capability to look better than consoles. (I am using a bare bone Ps4, after all) But for this one instance, it doesn't look like it. I'm sure the mod community will have some fun making it look prettier though.
And for the record, I enjoy playing Sony stuff more. That doesn't mean that I don't play other consoles. I've got a Switch and Xbox One too. Ps4 just has better games at the moment.
@pc_rocks: A bit delusional now are we? PC gamers are the ones that came up with the term movie games. AKA single player games with high production values. The only games you get in this genre are multiplats. And how is a popular online mode foreign to PS gamers when GTAV is by far and away more popular on PS4 then any platform?
You call HZD, Spiderman UC4, etc shitty press X one and done games when the fact is if they came to PC you would be all over it because they are simply better games then most of the endless low effort microtransaction riddled trash on PC. And if it's replay value and online modes that matter so much why were hermits so obsessed with latest Metro?
Also cows don't accept that PC has better graphics then their precious exclusives because for a large part of the gen they dont. When PS exclusives win best graphics on most websites year after year it's kinda proof of that.
@pc_rocks: You call HZD, Spiderman UC4, etc shitty press X one and done games when the fact is if they came to PC you would be all over it because they are simply better games then most of the endless low effort microtransaction riddled trash on PC. But I'm a PC gamer who has a PS4 and found HZD and UC4 just okay. Spider-Man I barely played. The box sits in my cabinet, probably never to be opened again. It's partly because the source material blows, but mostly it's just a boring game. When I'm not playing PC games, I prefer Nintendo's more classical games over most of Sony's crap.
