Ratchet & Clank extended gameplay demo

Release is “Ps5 launch window” whatever that means.

I would assume it means within a month of the PS5 release or at the latest Dec 31, 2020, anything beyond that is not the launch window IMO

The gameplay looked like a typical cartoon shooter so nothing special there... the rifts were still "cutscenes" as you can not interact in them by the looks of it, but they are much quicker.

I thought they already showed everything they showed there.. I was watching it on the live stream and all, but didn't see much new footage.

Then again, I am unlikely to get the game so perhaps I just don't care all that much.. lol.

I might get the game from a discount bin a few months later, but I've never been the biggest R&C fan. That said however what they have shown looks great and is a good sign of things to come.

I agree with that, should be before X-mas. But they have an out if they wanna delay it some I suppose.

I also agree with your take on the gameplay. Played the last R & C (I think) and this look very similar from a gameplay pov. The next gen stuff is mostly cosmetic imo.

There is still Lems on here who think this game can actually run on a PS4. Lems are in a really sad place right now this game blows Halo Infinite outa the water. I think you need SSD to do go through those rifts and the graphics and all stuff on screen this world much bigger than PS4's ratchet game.

I like sony's PS5 strategy I'll probably pick this up with Spiderman MM and Demon Souls and GodFall

Infamous Second Son was a launch window title for PS4 and, it released in March.

I'd consider anything within 6 months to be launch window.

I think what they showed before was a cut of this the demo. Now they showed it fully as uninterrupted gameplay. But I agree it was not that much new to see.

The biggest difference I saw was the new robot enemies. I don't remember seeing them in the June video. That and a few extra smaller cutscenes.

Yeah the cutscene with Ratchet shooting the disruptor was new I think.

Gameplay looks like typical ratchet and clank. Thankfully it still has the mass chaos firefights that is one of the few things I enjoy about the series so I’ll probably wind up picking it up.

I noticed Ratchet can get knocked down on his back , does that happen in the other games? I don't remember.

The rifts are "neat" but they are just quick cutscenes and are not gameplay

The game play is like any other cartoon shooter

The graphics during game play look like something that could be done this generation. The only thing that could not be done this gen are the quick cutscenes ("rifts")

I never actually finished the PS4 remake. Nintendo makes better 3D platformers than Sony.

Its a ratchet and clank game I suppose. It just feels like a launch game that has an idea how to take advantage of new hardware but not enough time to really make the mechanics shine. It sort of here is the first draft of this idea. I don't know I feel like other games following it will utilize this better. Its ok for now but nothing special.

I see a game that looks fun but really nothing stands out to me as being "next gen" let alone a "strong" next gen title.

I can admit when a game looks good regardless of platform (ghosts of tsushima looks great) you on the other hand can not be impartial. I came into Gamescon hoping that the rift sequences would actually be part of gameplay somehow and I find out they are just really quick cut scenes so why cant I be disappointed??

I was more surprised by the sound than the visual. I've never experienced this quality of 3D audio in any other game or gaming platform before. Seriously, if you use Chrome browser, enable Web RTC multi-channel audio processing on chrome://flags and feel the sounds only with your headphones. It's so freakin immersive.

PS5 actually seems to be succeeding in differentiating itself from other gaming platforms with haptic feedback, powerful SSD, and that audio engine called Tempest.

Under the circumstances I'd expect the launch window for both consoles could be longer, more like 9-12 months, before the big hitters start to come.

To me launch means the first couple of months (so Nov and Dec) anything with a 2021 release date is not really a launch title

I play on XBOX and Computer and I think Halo looked like garbage, but I was never going to buy it anyways.

R&C looks like fun game play but nothing revolutionary that shouts "this is next gen"

Anyway, Xbox forfeited on having AAA 1P games for the next 3 years. So R&C takes a dump on XSX content by default.

Second Son was originally supposed to be one of the launch games with PS4 but got delayed March 2014. Sounds like Rift Apart will be releasing early 2021.

Edit: Gameplay looks dope. Really a fun platform action game to give PS5 a boost it needs.

If that's the power of sonys SSD then that disappointing. Graphically it looks great but the rifts were meh you can still see the loading "scenes" between each world

Looks great. I like it. The dimension gimmick looks neat. I’ve always enjoyed the Ratchet & Clank games myself so this will definitely be a game I’ll get for the PS5 when I pick up the system.

Yeah looks good. Not just visually either, looks pretty fun.

Never been a big fan of these games, though always did enjoy the ones I played. Wouldn't buy a PS5 to play it, but might scoop it if I do get a PS5 for something else.

There will be plenty of 30fps games next gen. Why they even bother marketing the 120fps stuff is beyond me

You do have a point. I;ve always wondered just how much these exclusives sell, given how large the console sold out in the wild.

Certainly not Insomniac. They told everyone 10 years ago that they wouldn't bother making games above 30fps anymore. They tend to make games that would definitely benefit from a higher framerate, but they just don't care. Oh well. I'll support devs who do care.

Not everything has the same audience. All you do is play cartoon games you cardboard loving creep. If you play anything more complicated than a Mario game then you need to strap on the drool cup. 😂
