Ralph Nader did some important things in his life. I think he was the prime mover for introducing seatbelts into every vehicle. He was also a presidential candidate.

He's just using it as a metaphor.

Not really a big deal. Doesn't make any evidential statement as to why he says that.

Which is directly related to George Bush winning. If he HADN'T run for president we wouldn't have had the grand Texan shooting at everyone in the world who spoke with an accent or had a tan.

I never understand why people who have no idea about videogames have an opinion on videogames and usually a bad one. This guy probably never played a videogame in his life yet he concluded that idiotic statement

This seems like a problem for the parents to monitor and teach their children, not the fault of video games

I think, and I could be wrong, what he is saying is that video games are stealing children's innocence, the same way molesters do. In that regard, he has a point: parents let their children play M-Rated games despite the fact that they are not supposed to by played by anyone under the age of 17.

You could say that's the partents fault. But, there are Halo and Gears of War toys, aren't there? Clearly, publishers are appealing to the juvinile market.

I don't think he said anything really that bad, I agree with the people pointing it out as an analogy and that's probably what he was getting at. He also says he is not saying he (Obama) should censor games/tv, but rather sensitize parents to the violent games they are buying their children. Sounds like a reasonable position to me.

The term "electronic child molesters" is beyond stupid and it's also ridiculous to say that video game culture was responsible for Sandy Hook.

Honestly, Ralph Nader is one of the reasons I find alternative party candidates to be even more tiresome than the major Republican and Democratic candidates.

Now, this is a Drasonak post, so I CBA to read the link, but if the guy in the title really said that, I guess I can add how aside from introducing seatbelts and running for presidency, he was also an ultimate moron...

What he said was this:

We are in the peak of [violence in entertainment]. Television program violence? Unbelievable. Video game violence? Unprecedented, Nader said. Im not saying he wants to censor this, I think he should sensitize people that they should protect their children family by family from these kinds of electronic child molesters.

He thinks that there's too much violence in the media, and he had a questionable choice of words.

You know, with republicans willing to blame absolutely anything to defend the right to have them nukes hidden under their beds in case Obama becomes a full blown socialist tyrant, all it takes is for a few democrats to get all nanny-state, which they do every once in a while, for something to happen.

Tomorrow Ill watch another rendition of political bullsh-t by the newly reelected president, full of promises that he intends to break just like he did in 2009, Nader said.

This is the only smart thing to come out of that dumbass's mouth.

Zen_Light

That may be true, to an extent, but it's not a rule.

The big thing isn't that old people can't relate to new forms of media, it's that power-hungry political types are always looking for absolutely anything to blame society's problems on, so they can use it as an excuse to grab more power, and dictate more aspects of other's lives, because they are literally insane, and the only thing that gets them up in the morning is the prospect of more power.

I think he was calling video games themselves electronic child molesters, not the people who play them. Either way, still stupid as sh!t.

Poor choice of words, it's clearly figurative. Again I'd have no problem with such claims if people actually accused all media entirely, not just videogames.

Totally doesn't make sense though because there has been violence and sex in movies far longer tahn there have been video games, and parents lest their kidds watch those too.

Well, considering how bad Romney lost in 2012, Ralph Nader winning wouldn't have helped them very much. Obama had 272 electoral votes just counting states that he won by 5% or more.

Though I remember fox news was saying that he is the worst president in history and would lose by landslide. When according to fox news he was supposed to lose by a landslide even a 2.8% is a resounding victory.

But America is not a pure democracy so the 2.8% is irrelevant because Obama won by a landslide via electoral votes.

Let's get one thing straight here, Gore did not lose the election, he won and it was stolen. And not by Ralph Nader.
