Very nice analysis of this game. the fact that not everything should goes open world.

It would have been so much better if it was linear FPS running on id tech 6 made by id software rather than running on just cause 4 engine and made by just cause developers whose only truly great game was just cause 2 decade ago.

Yeah the only good thing about rage 2 was the gameplay. I thought the same thing.

Yes!!!! Not every fuc*ing game has to be open world!!! Devs take note.

That's why I love shooters like the new Wolfensteins.

last gen people badly wanted open world games. now they have realize that open world formula is just bland.

having linear and more focus design is always better.

I thought the same thing about Nier Automata, open world really did nothing for me, also the combat isn't as refined as say a Bayonetta or DMC game. Would have been much better as a linear beat-em-up / hack-n-slash.

Yeah i watched some gameplay. It seems as if the linear and the open world gameplay sections were made by two different studios.

People keep forgetting that Rage 1 was very poor game. It looked great, sure, but the missions used the same coupla areas, so you were shooting thru the same few locations dozen times. Which led to boredom.

And the driving/racing was poor in it.

And the npcs in towns were zombies that just stood still in one place.

Borderlands did it all much better.

So its good that Rage 2 changed formula and tried to do bigger game world.
