Where are Burnouts, Need for Speeds? EA not making any more racing games?
I only see Forzas
Racing genre dead?
Well?

Yes boring genre.
dont care about them.
It's not dead. They just put out a new Need for Speed a few months ago. A lot more racers in the Sim racing category especially on PC.

^^^ This right here. I checked out of racing games years ago
The genre isn't as interesting as it used to be, but I wouldn't call it dead. Need for Speed just came out, Forza is on the... (Horizon. HAHAHA*snort*!), Test Drive Solar Crown, Wreckreation, and I'm sure more will be announced in the next few months like Dirt or Grid. Plus the indie scene is rife with throwbacks, I feel like I see a new Virtua Racer looking thing on Steam every month.
Its been dead and irrelevant for generations. THE ONLY reason forza is being mentioned as much as it does, is because the year it comes out, literally nothing is on the xbox, so all the lems have no choice but to talk about forza cuz its their only game for that year.
Pretty obvious that you didn't research the topic lol. Need for Speed Unbound came out just recently. Gran Turismo 7 came out and was a big hit and now we're getting the VR version next month. Forza has always been doing well. Mario Kart 8 has sold probably over 40 million units. So yea, this thread doesn't make sense lol.
Not when PSVR 2 comes out. GT7 baby.
Yep. Believe it or not, GTS online is still well and alive. Easy to find online races. I was surprised.
Racing is boring.

lol I agree racing games are boring for the most part. There's only a few racing games that are legit fun like Burnout takedown and revenge smashing the shit out of cars and watching all the pieces fly in slow motion is the best crash mode never gets old.
@hardwenzen: There's a ton coming out this year for Xbox (and game pass), and I am still excited for the new Forza.
Like every year until you switch "tons coming out next year" cuz everything is in development hell, and is being delayed of canned🤡dabear you're in shambles
@hardwenzen: Well see in 5 days...
What you will see in 5 days is a game running in sub 30fps that you will be damage controlling with "but they still have time to optimize, guys". This is what we will see in 5 days.
Isn't racing doing better than ever? Forza, Gran Turismo, Asetto Corsa, F1, Mario Kart, iRacing...
What makes you say that? Forza is doing well because its *free*. Haven't heard anything about GT doing well. Asetto is very niche. Mario Kart is more of a party game than a racing one. iRacing is very niche, but good game. If by "doing better than ever" you're referring to profits, i don't think that's the case. If you're just saying that there's multiple good racing titles on the market, then sure.

Forza isn't free and is consistently among the most popular Xbox titles. It also peaked at 80K players just on Steam that's at most like 1/2 (very generously) of its user base. Gran Turismo 7 was among the top 10 best-selling titles on the Playstation store. F1 22 did well. Mario Kart is still a racing game. Sure, it's got vehicular combat elements but it's ultimately a racing game.
Was there another time when racing games were doing better? The Ridge Racers, Burnout, or Cruisn' games of yesteryear weren't exactly selling tens of millions either.
@hardwenzen: Awww. Is the poor widdle cow sad that there's nothing going on in Playstationland?
Forespoken comes out this month
I have been shitting on Forspoken more than you lems. So try harder if you want your argument to be half decent.

I don't follow the genre, but back when GT was massive, i think those were the best days for the genre. More people seemed to care more about racing title releases than they are now. These days its all about BR.
F1 still going strong and Mario Kart has new content ... not to mention Forza is still very popular ... i think you just wanted to say ... i miss Burnout.

Maybe you're right, but gaming has grown so much compared to the early 2000s that it's hard to compare. Back then, a title selling 10M was absolutely enormous. Nowadays, a major AAA game is expected to do 20M+. Zelda has been considered arguably the second or third most important Nintendo franchise since the first one and the second best-selling title is OOT at like 8.5M copies compared to BOTW which did over 25M.
Racing simulation is boring.
Fvck this genre and everyone who enjoyed it.

Fixed.
Arcade racing is one of the most fun genres, by far. Way more fun than boring AAA open world games.
Especially in the arcades with the hydraulic motion simulator cabinets, something most gamers today have never experienced.
Well Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is almost at 50 million sold now.
In total, Mario Kart 8 sold over 56M units. Kart racing is bigger than ever. But car racing isn't as popular as it used to be, at least on consoles. Kids nowadays mainly play cheap car racing games on mobile phones.
One reason I'd give for the decline of car racing games is the increased focus on realism at the expense of fun. And another reason is taking arcade racers out of the arcade environment. Arcade racing isn't the same without the hydraulic motion simulator cabinets you can only find in arcades.
@hardwenzen: So, there is *nothing* for PS5 for a while?
Lets not change the subject. Your "nothing" for the ps5 has just given us a six times award winner title, something you have never seen nor will see on the Xbone or the X.
@hardwenzen: Maybe, maybe not.
Let's talk about 2023. Whatcha got? Spiderman, and...?
You can check both threads for all confirmed games for both PS5 and PSVR2. Are you excited for Starfield’s upcoming delay announcement?

A starfield delay is a rumor, with no facts to back it up.
I know, you want it delayed, you want it to be bad. But, we can't always get what we want...

You're unbeliably desperate, dabear. I don't know what's going on with you as of late.
Sim Racing is very healthy lots of people getting into F1, GT and others. GT7 is one of the top 15 most sold game in NA in 2022. It's a genre that will always have following due to popularity of the sport.
Arcade racing is either FH, NFS or dead. The genre probably lost its popularity due to street car culture largely disappeared.

Because I don't give too much credence to a rumor that was started before MS announced that Starfield was getting it's own "event"?
Yeah, I'm really fricken desperate...
