So I was thinking, lets just assume that this current gen will last the same amount of time as the previous gen (Ps2, xbox, gamecube one). By this I mean a new xbox in 4 years and a new Playstatoion in 6.

That would mean that the 2 were in completly different "gens".
   Sony and MS will both launch around the same time. Remember the PS3 was supposed to be out in a lot sooner than it did.    I expect the next round in 2010 or so.

i wouldn't be surprised if sony kept the ps3 and milked it till 1012 ... hell ... thats what i want to happened ... i dont want to buy a new console every 4 years.

Good point. I just got the idea of the 4 year thing off the amount of people (mainly sony fans..) who post stuff like: "At least our console wont be outdated in 4 years"
