Just an FYI for those of you with a large PSVR catalogue, you might want to keep your PSVR

maybe a 10 bucks for the updates.

remember this is not a hardware update. testing is involve with new controllers.

im sure the third party stuff will be have a free update.

but I hope vr titles will be on the new ps plus premium.

plus first party titles.

That sounds like a miss. Having PSVR titles work on PSVR2 seems like it should be a given considering how limited the library was.

almost exactly the same specs as the occulus, the rest is meh. This isn't 2012..I don't know why people are still hyping up VR. I still have my occulus quest 2 and haven't touched it in months, though I want to run it again and play some re4 some day.

Until they get VR to work like the anime "sword art online", its just junk.

I just hope that does not mean I have to purchase upgrades to play them on PSVR2. I liked PSVR, but the graininess did give me a headache after playing for over an hour. That is more about my vision though.

That's just wishful thinking.

"Not a hardware update" is also a BS excuse because they had a choice during development to make the software compatible just as they did with the PS4/5.

They chose not to, for obvious reasons.

I can play PC VR games on my Oculus Quest 2, surely they could've developed the software and hardware in a way that would be backward compatible.

They simply want you to buy the PSVR2 ports

because vr can be awesome. once it finds its developers that bring full length games like hzd call of the mountain and astrobot rescue missions.

its the first wow I got in years in video games.

don't call it a piece of junk because obvious the tech is there.

calling it a piece of junk then saying oculus is the way to go. then say I haven't touch it in mouths.

you know why? because pc developers are not making games. only from facebook.

at least sony is making high end games for vr.

and sense they are bringing there games to pc you might get these sony vr games on your oculus.

They can "remaster" them and sell you them again. Theres a good chance HL:Alex might release for it too, that alone should excite you.

I am definitely keeping my PSVR. It'll be cool if there are cross play titles such as Rec Room, then I'll have two family members that can play that together.

I bought an entry level stand and mid-tier wheel for GT7 which I haven’t played in months so I’ll probably be suckered into buying VR2 too.

My heart is broken, I was looking forward to playing PSVR games on PSVR2. There is nothing at launch that I know of that interests me. It still better have Jaunt. Lets hope the best PSVR games get a sequel or remaster.

Damn! I was willing to give PSVR2 a chance if it ever came to PC because the headset seems to be great; but now, no way in hell. Sony have shown again that they have chimps for software engineers and can't work with abstractions.

Will wait for Valve's next headset.

@gifford38: developers will support something if there’s profit. One or two games won’t convince millions of ps5 gamers to spend $350 on an accessory like the headset. When the ps5 has been collecting dust for these people for months, do you think they will shell out that kind of money?

End of the day, you need lots of customers for that to be profitable. To attract customers you need lots of games. Good luck.

Compatibility could have been a good jump off point to PSVR2, could have been a nice stablished software presence to support early adoption of PSVR2 on PS5 and something to sweeten PS Plus Extra/Premium libraries.

To be fair, it is probably not easy to switch from using internal tracking cameras to external. Hopefully a patch can fix it in the future.

It also might be a sign that Sony thinks this will be able to stand on its own. All they need to do is add PC support. Come on Sony, you already publish your games on PC.

VR focused websites have already said that lots of devs are working on PSVR2 versions of their PSVR1 games. We obviously won't get an updated version of every game but, the most popular ones most likely will.

That's a bummer. I got rid of my PSVR awhile ago but still have several games for it. Guess those games will be forgotten like my digital ps3 games were last gen. Might still get one, or might go the PC route... not quest 2. That thing looks barely better then the original PSVR.

The way the PSVR2 hardware works is very different from the PSVR1.

Damn.

You know for all the cool stuff this headset has, that to me is a pretty huge fundamental to miss. I mean why cant you play on both sets? That should not be an issue.

Nah, not having it. Bad move, Sony

I guess now VR won't be backwards compatible like consoles for the most part.

When you replied "I expected this" it reads as though you were expecting it not to support PSVR1.
