PSP Slim Vs DS Lite

I have to buy 1 of them.

I NEED HELP !!! If any one can suggest me which one is better ?

I prefer RPGs and good Platformers (super mario bros 4). Which has more longevity as in I won't get bored after 2-3 months?

I don't like watching movies on the small screen, so the media thing on PSP doesn't really interest me.

I have too much time off during classes.

Sounds like you are more of a DS person. The platformers to me are a toss-up. The PSP right now has a bigger selection of RPGs. Get what you want, it all comes down to preference.

Handhelds suck. Trust me, I have a PSP and a DS and I haven't played either in ages. Just get a laptop if you want portability.caje47

I gotta recommend the psp. Even the daxter pack-in is one of the better platformers I've played on any system, handheld or console. PSP did have battery problems with the previous model, but the battery life on the slim is very good. I go days without a charge, I'd guess a good 5 hours total at least.

The one and only real criteria is...do you want console-like games, or shorter arcade style games? There are solid reasons why either choice is good for a handheld. I personally wanted the console experience on the go, so Iwent witha psp. Web functionality wasn't a bad thing either.

DS has better games, better RPGS, has the best platformers (Super Mario, Partners in Time, Mario 64...etc) and the touch screen is so cool! Plus cheaper also. PSP is basically a portable multimedia system, not games handheld console.magic_dragon

I dont care about sales, I like my PSP way better than the DS I just sold.

Is anyone else other than me tired of these kinds of posts? And does anyone else wonder why these people who make these topics are too lazy to push a few buttons and do the research themselves?

Personally I like both handhelds.

I have both. Honestly I'm going to have to say psp because the ff tactics game is coming out that looks sick

The DS is great for both long gaming experiences and pick-up-and-play "in betweens". It also has more developer support and more titles readily available for either aspect of your handheld gaming pleasure.

I have both and the PSP is much better, it has great games and better graphics. the games on nintendo are the same as like gameboy and stuff un less you like old vid games. psp has alot more to do and moer mature games. PSP!!!! o.0r155m4n

The Ds all around has better games, A much bigger selection of RPG's, better platformers, and a MUCH better battery life.

The DS games i own- FF3, Children of mana, mariokart ds(online), metroid prime hunters(online), pokemon pearl(online and will last you weeks, logged in over 50 hrs of gameplay going to get the 8th badge.), NSMB(better than any psp game), and thats all I can remember from the top of my head.

Platformers and RPG's?

The DS destorys the PSP in those both in current line-up and future line-up.

Also the PSP is a niche system if anything. (Similar to how the Wii is currently in the console war)

if you have a ps2 go for the Ds almost all psp games are from the ps2

Edit: the psp load times (in some games) are abysmal.

Uhh, Laptops generally stink as gaming devices. They're underpowered, and of course have much shorter battery life.

I have both. The DS Lite is simply a much better portable. It has better battery life, it is more durable, the games do not have loading times. It is cheaper and so are it's games. You do not need a memory card. The screen is easier to see in sunligh or well lit areas. The DS also has more portable friendly games.

As for the PSP, it is one slick piece of hardware that you can do a lot with but as a portable it simply can't measure up to the DS. I used to play my PSP a lot last year when my fiancee and I were living with my parents. In that scenario it was great because it was hard to get a couple of hours in front of the TV without bothering someone to do my gaming. My schedule (I was a grad student at a local college) also made it so that I had a spare 50 minutes or so here and there. In that case the PSP was great because the PSP by itself can fulfill your gaming needs with deep console like games. However as soon as I moved out and now that I have a dedicated game room and a large flat-panel TV for my HD gaming my PSP went unused. I do most of my gaming on home consoles but if I want to bring a portable around the DS is a much better compliment with it's superior portability and games that are for the most part very different then typical home console games.
