PSP officially flops worldwide

The slight lead PSP had this year in the USA is gone. DS is back on top. Not to mention the fact that DS is outselling PSP in Europe.. and DOMINATING Japan.. I think it's safe to say that DS = Winnar.mis3ry

What the hell happened years ago, last year, and this year the PSP has always been doing good everyone hyped about it, everyone I know has one, everyone loves it and then all this sudden I hear PSP UMD gone, psp flops, what does this nintendo ds that makes it surpass psp awesome graphics for a handheld. Before now I never seen any hype about the DS and no one playing it except one of my friends and all this sudden people are saying that the DS is better than the psp. Can someone explain why to me?

The PSP's still doing pretty well, considering that Nintendo has been the handheld market leader for as long as I can remember.

Compare it to the other handhelds that challenged Nintendo.

The sales seems alright to me. I could see if it was doing as bad as the xbox or something. We all know the PSP cant touch the DS but those sales number are not bad. And seriously  how many times can the PSP flop/fail/be dead we know its not going to beat the DS. You know how many of these stupid PSP=the flop/PSP=failed threads there are.

Kind of. Remember that Nintendo hasn't won any "system war" in the last ten years, so the fact that the DS is beating the PSP is a significant victory for Nintendo fans. It's also the more sweeter the fact that when the PSP was announced, nearly everyone wrote Nintendo off and sang the praises of Sony. This was supposed to be it; Sony was supposed deal Nintendo the final blow and become king of all console types with the PSP.

Now it looks like the PSP may be the first fall in Sony's imminent tumble.

Well, of course the PSP doesn't stand a chance against the DS. Nintendo has been doing handhelds for many years. As a first attempt by Sony to penetrate the market, they are doing pretty good. Although personally, I haven't played my PSP in months and could care less about it.

I live close to Washington D.C., and went by the retailers, and all I could literally find was Sega Casino, Texas Hold 'Em, and a couple mass producted Nintendo titles since they always have alot in stock.

What sucks, is DS is selling so well, when I go to retailers, the good games don't even exist anymore. They could make a ton of money if they would mass produce a large quantity of certain titles and ship them out.

Yeah but some of them are Animal Crossing, and Nintendogs, Brain Age.  Which from what I understand, they just get a ton of in stock.  Especially Brain Age since it just sells and sells.  I wish they would also have more games available to show how great the DS truly is like: Phoenix Wright, Trauma Center, Castlevania is always out of stock now, Electroplankton, Advance Wars: Dual Strike, etc.

I've literally watched the demand for this system shoot through the roof over the past 5.

Right now genius the wii is winning the console wars and its the cheapest.

Sony doesn't care that the DS is winning in sales. They're making a profit from the PSP and that's good enough for them. I'm having fun playing Syphon Filter and Loco Roco and that's good enough for me. A lot of you are having fun with Metroid Prime Hunters, and that's probably good enough for you. No they didn't. They were battling it out with Sega pretty furiously. Sega even starting beating them for awhile. They in no way dominated for 10 years.

In the handheld market ,on the other hand, Nintendo has been the ONLY successful handheld until the PSP came along. Sony's managed to take a big chunk of the market with the PSP.

It's a global success.
