PS5, Xbox Series X, or Switch - which is the best looking console?

XSX overall, but Switch is solid when mounted and without the joypads. PS5 was a really odd design.

I’m going with the Xbox Series X myself. I like it’s simple compact design. The Switch would be second with the PS5 third.

I like how simple the XSX looks. Not a fan of gaudy consoles or even PC cases for that matter. XSX just fades into the background and I'm cool with that.

PS5 looks way overdesigned. Thought it might grow on me, though I think it's done the opposite lol. Those fins get worse the more I see them. Think it looks even worse horizontally, like someone tipped it over by mistake rather than it being an intended option.

Again, the Switch, I like the simplicity. As a docked console, shits so small and discreet, don't even notice it. And as a handheld (not how I use it) looks like exactly what it needs to be, nothing more nothing less.

Anyways, sometimes my feelings change once I actually have these boxes in my place. Maybe I'll feel differently about the PS5 later, but early impressions it's the odd one out. Will definitely go vertical if I get one though.

XSX because it won't stick out like a sore thumb. I don't want my electronics trying to be the life of the party. Just look boring and blend in.

XSX looks better and probably serves the airflow better than the PS5.

Switch, however, is perfectly fine as a hadheld.

I don't care that much. There is really only one console that I did not like the look of, and that was the GameCube. That's something I would hide and not have on display. I'm not getting the PS5 right away, or at all, but if I do I would go for an all black model, or get custom coverings to go on it. So I would rank PS5 as last because of the white coverings, cause I'm all woke and shit. It looks repressive.

Ps5 by far, although it looks best vertically.

I like the look of all of them. I do prefer the Series X only because its a black box. When they release a black PS5 version it would take the number 1 spot.

The PS5 for me. It's the only one that looks like any effort went into it. On that note the look of the console really isn't that important to me.

Simplicity is often best, so XsX and Switch by default. The more I look at the PS5, the more I don't like it.

Xsx by a country mile....which is coincidentally the length of the ps5 when horizontal.

That PooS5 looks fuglier on its side, its like the ends are bursting at the seams and not in a good way.

I can lay the SeX down without the use of the stand and its just disappears into the background.

The Switch is the Switch, ok for a handheld I guess.

They all look rubbish for their own unique reasons, it's like comparing human shit to dog shit to cat shit. But the way a console looks is pretty meaningless for the most part.

I like things that stand out. So I chose the playstation 5.

*edit although i think it looks kind of crap on its side - it needs to be vertical for the futuristic look to work. When vertical, there's a swooping V down the front for a subtle nod to its model name

At least have a vertical image of the PS5 to make it a fair comparison. Anyway, I don't mind the simplicity of the XSX, but I like the style of the PS5 better.

@xantufrog: To each their own of course....but the design is the worst ever. I mean ever. Not so much aesthetically -that's personal preference - but it's the only console I can think of that can't stand up on it's own on either axis....how easy is this thing going to be knocked over when vertical? The blades/fins protrude from the actual case, which makes it an even wider/taller object if you're trying to get it into a shelf, and surely they could have done something about the tumour for the disc?

Series X, not too complicated, just a matte black tower, I like it. Will not buy it though, we'll unless it gets Sony tier exclusives that is, rather dive into PC gaming again.

Just speaking from a looks perspective: i like the PS5 the most. initially my reaction was "wuh?" but it's grown on me. it's distinct....adds a bit to where ever it is.

they probably should have led the reveal with the all digital edition though. that is the original design. the poor designers heart probably broke when sony requested a disc drive :P. The disc drive is also on the underside which is a bit of a pain.

I would prefer it in all black (or black with a dark grey shell maybe like the grey joycons).

The XSX is fine...but it's just that. its fine. its a non distinct box. it's hard to say more than that really. completely inoffensive but completely lacking in aspiration too if i was to be a bit mean about it.

The switch is kinda the same as the XSX. its functional. practical. a bit disappointing from nintendo by their own wacky standards. i dont like the way the tablet stands out from the dock (though its perfectly understandable why its done that way). it looks untidy.

But yeah my vote for the PS5.

I personally like them all but if I'm being honest, I really like Xbox Series X design of the console the most and that's because airflow is more important when it's packing such a huge specs-wise, keeping the console cool is always important, so XSX wins it for me.

PS5 design, I don't like it when it's flat on its surface, vertical makes it stand out a lot more and making it look futuristic skyscraper-like is what I like about it. But as long as its airflow efficient, the design is a-okay in my books if it helps to cool the system.

The switch is a basic console of a handheld and not much to add but it's okay in my books.

I'm starting to like the XSX more. It might look even better in person. I do think the matte black design is getting old, though.

Switch just looks so cheap like a knock off product or a prototype, specially when docked. The dock design seem pratical though. Just ugly the way everything juts out of it.

I think the One X looks the best. It's a cleaner, reversed PS2. Has just enough assymetry.

I find the PS5 looks like Sony developed a console that they put not enough thought into it. Very strange looking, but it's going to have great games as will the XSX.

I don't really care either way about how cool a console looks.

I will say though: I'm usually a fan of asymmetrical design, but the PS5 just doesn't work for me. It looks like one side got melted or stepped on by a heavy foot.

Definitely the one that didn't rip-off a modem design because the designer team are lazy morons.

I feel the same. I prefer the PS5, because it instantly grabs my attention. That stated, I'll hardly see/look at it.

i know its me again lol. im going to say just like the ps4 and pro and ps3 the tops slide off. those two side panels are shells. i bet you be able to buy different color ones. this is not fact i don't want you to say im spreading rumors. i hope this is true because instead of game addition consoles they can sell game addition shells so everyone that likes the look can buy them without buying a new console.

but if you look closely you can see both ends top and bottom when vertical of the white over lap the black center and looks like there not molded together. I also hope this is true so we can get to the fans to clean them like the pro. the pro top pops off without screws to be able to clean the fan.

but its also rumored that there is a black addition coming out as well. again rumored.

I like the look of the ps5 but wished they just went with black over the two tone. The Xbox series X has grown on me but doesn't look all that next generation.
