@XVision84: some people here really believe that Nintendo isnt worth anything compared to ms or Sony.

I think it will slow down Switch's momentum as well.
Imagine GTA 6 with next gen graphics. If SSBU sold so well and moved consoles, so will games like GTA 6. And GTA 6 ain't coming to Switch.
I don't even think the next Bethesda games (Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6) are coming to Switch. While Switch has the advantage of being on the go, it's still very limited in power, and that is what is also going to hurt it in 2020 and beyond. Third party developers will be concentrating more on the other two. It always ends up being the same song and dance.
@mandzilla: Only in your wildest sheep dreams. Stick to your kiddy platformers, we've got mature cinematic experiences ?
Can we bring back the minimum posts to create a thread? Like 100?
That's a great suggestion.
OT: The Switch's success is not solely due to the WiiU's failures.
I’m building a mini PC that will DESTROY the next gen consoles. My cutoff for completion is end of May, and it will have all the features of the next gen consoles. Momentum means nothing if consumers are able to replicate the tech a year+ in advance.
I will keep the build under 600 watts TDP
I will use a Ryzen CPU
The build will be ray tracing ready
I will only use ssd’s
Digital only
Cerny can kiss my ass after this one...
Who cares, PC has no exclusives anyway.
Sure it does.
Shitty indie games don't count. Outside of some RTS games, there's nothing that tips PS4's exclusive library.
Spoken like a true ignoramus. There's more to PC gaming than "shitty indie games".
I can't imagine a single person deciding whether to buy either a PS5 OR a Switch. It seems glaringly obvious to me that either you're the type of person who would never buy the other anyway, or you'd buy both because they over very different gaming experiences from both a software and hardware perspective.
I certainly didn't feel the need to choose between a Switch, PS4, and PC.
Worldwide, sure, but I am curious about which system Japanese developers will focus on when the Switch will make up larger chunk of their market. If the PS5 launches fresh there and the Switch has a larger and growing userbase, which system will seem more appealing to make games for?
PS2 didn't stop Nintendo from making systems so PS5 won't stop them either.
I'm pretty sure that gaming is popular enough and userbases of each prefer such vastly different experiences that there is room for both to be successful.
I do wonder if Xbox will be an all digital GaaS platform and not a box per se.
Why does it matter if Sony stops the Switch's momentum, with the PS5? Will it help you sleep better at night if they do? lol
Besides, once Pokémon Sword and Shield release later this year, the Switch is going to sell like gangbusters. Soo....yeah....sorry to burst your bubble, OP, but it's not like the PS5 is going to completely annihilate the Switch right out of the gate.
Yes Playstation 5 will halt the Nintendo Switch dead in it's tracks but not before it out sells SNES and the NES. Nintendo could get away with Switch version 2. But Sony will rule with PS5 in 2020. Nintendo, Xbox and the rest will limp out of the gate
I don't know that Nintendo is direct competition for Sony the way Microsoft is. Everyone I know who owns a Switch also owns either a PS4 or an XBox. Slightly different audiences. Outside of handhelds, I haven't owned a Nintendo since the Super NES, but I honestly don't know that Nintendo will ever die. They are an innovator and have pushed the needle for a long time. I don't see that changing any time soon.

Sounds like the same exact audience actually. If Everyone who owns a Switch also owns a PS4 or Xbox One, it sounds exactly the same.
Sheep really overestimate the appeal of portability when it comes at the cost of 3rd party support. Switch ports can barely run at 720p30 as is and I'm suppose to believe that it'll be able to keep up with PS5/Xbox whatever ports? ??
Have fun port begging as usual sheep.
Unless the PS5 is a portable/handheld console, it'll likely have no impact on the Switch's momentum or market share.
People aren't buying a Switch because it's a better home console than the PS4/XBO, they are buying it because they can take their home console with them and play whenever and wherever they want.

Your not the only one to say it.
But the amount of Sony fans in this thread that just don't understand this simple reality shows what kinda of fan base we are dealing with.

As it stands now, I can even say that I use Switch portability way more so, cause I be gaming on my PC at home all the time. It's the reason why I'm enjoying Switch, I get to take it with me thus getting way more play during lunch time and riding the Bus as well. Switch's portability is it's saving grace. So yeah, Sony needs to adapt to the portability options but then again, I could just simply use my Vita if it could actually play PS5 games that is.

I'm pretty much the same. I buy third party games (that I feel I don't need on my PC) on the Switch over the PS4 even if there is a performance hit.
Simply because there are far more use cases for the Switch. If I want a stationary device that I can't just play on the sofa while watching TV with the mrs, or in bed, etc .. I would play on the PC.
I've had a PS4 since launch, and it has less games than my 2 year old switch....
Ok, if the PC didn't exist it would be difference.
lol no it won't, because the switch isn't competing against the PS4 or PS5.
When Switch wins NPD or Media Create:
"Switch wins the month in North America and sold the most during the Holidays! Destroys PS4 and X1, and Switch passes PS4 in Japan!"
When Switch owners know PS4 and PS5 will outsell Switch:
"Nintendo Switch isn't competing with PS4 or PS5. They are doing their own thing."
Yes PS5 will be a beast its got an SSD and tons of power people will forget about the switch imo
You have no idea what the specs are on the PS5, you genetic fumble.
So your fantasy machine will beat the switch?? Maybe I should create a thread about how the switch 2 will crush the ps5 momentum... would make as much sense as this sorry excuse for a thread..
Mark Cerny gave some basic specs in the Wired article a couple weeks ago.
https://www.wired.com/story/exclusive-sony-next-gen-console/
https://www.resetera.com/threads/official-playstation-next-gen-plans-2020-wired-exclusive-article-ray-tracing-bc-ssd-more.111777/
PS5 is a real upcoming machine with specs + features that are becoming more concrete. And speaking of concrete and hard objects, you both live under a rock and need to get out more.
PS5 will be garbage
Switch will have better indies and first party
The new xbox will have better first party, a cheaper sku, a more powerful sku, better online and a better controller
This is like picking up a copy of Newsweek from 1996 and reading headlines like, "what are they going to do about the middle east?" and "is the president a criminal?"
same same same same same same same same same same same, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
The biggest shame about the Internet is that it gives everybody a chance to voice their opinion... and most people can't come up with anything interesting or original to say... and shouldn't talk.

I know it's been nearly 10 days, but just to let you know I'm still formulating my comeback to that. Stay tuned.
It won't just stop the Switch's momentum, PS5 will be the end of Nintendo. With PS5's specs and Sony's stellar first party, it's only a matter of time before Sony buys out Nintendo.
This post aged poorly, now XVision owns a Switch, HA!
EDIT: Uh-oh... Didn't realize this thread was revived by a necrophiliac
@FireEmblem_Man: Why do you think I bought a Switch? Because Sony is buying Nintendo as we speak. I'm just a little ahead of the curve, playstation domination continuation dalmatian plantation ;).
Doubtful. Nintendo’s position isn’t really competing with the playstation or Xbox brands. Most gamers see a Switch as backup.
I’d wager most Switch owners already own another console or PC. Nintendo’s Switch isn’t enough to support a main gaming console.

Lulz, but seriously Nintendo will always be around as long as there mobile gamers. They have been masters since the Gameboy.
@Zero_epyon: That doesn't stop it from being true. Think about it, why wouldn't Sony want Mario on their system? It's a global icon. They'll just make the money back eventually through profits.
The last thing in the world I want is Sony owning Nintendo, that'd be awful for gaming. Nothing on the PS4 has any of the soul that I see when I boot of BOTW or Mario, everything they drop is all realistic AAA games I have no interest in playing, aside from God of War that is.
I personally don't think that PS5 will end the Switch per say, but it will definitely kill AAA support for the system. It will still be a favourite for less hardware intense games as those are much easier to take on the go. As i've said before, the Switch isn't a home console, but rather a handheld that has the features to be used as one.
I feel like the wise choice for Nintendo is to stay in the handheld market, but i also recognize that Nintendo is the least risk-averse company. I will say this though: If they do yet another console again, they WILL have to future-proof it (i.e: They need to be able to run a 1080p30 (PC Medium) PS5 game at 2160p30 (PC Ultra) if they want to play PS6 games on 720p30 Medium)
I agree, I'd love nothing more than to play every multiplat on my switch but it can't handle it. Just going off of the current design, I'd love a slightly bigger screen, maybe bleed it to the edge. Then just make the system future proof like you said, they'll lose some money on the front end but dude, give gamers an option to play any of their multiplats on a hybrid and you have a winner.
