Now, all that being said, I think Sony was humbled after the PS3 and dominated this gen, but it's a far cry (lol) to say they'll win next gen.

All jest aside, no matter who wins, the gamers will always win and curious to see what the next-gen consoles will bring to the table and I don't think I'll bother buying PS5 cause PC/Nintendo Switch will serve me well and I still have much to do on PS4.

They're in a strong position to do very well next gen, but I think Xbox will put up quite a fight too. We'll have to see how things go.

Then I will gladly Stream those PS5 games on PC. I don't often game stream but if there's a PS5 game I find to be interesting, then I can live with streaming that game though PS Now.

Sadly, I'm pretty much done buying MS/Sony consoles and from this point on, it's PC/Nintendo consoles only and I much prefer Nintendo's offering then anybody else. PC is my ultimate gaming life anyways.

If the ps5 continues with a ps4 type ideology, I’ll skip another playstation next gen. But if they emphasize quality online multiplayer and improve psn, I may consider one.

The next Xbox is shaping up quite nicely though...assuming many of the rumours are true.

As long as it has BC otherwise I'm going to wait till the console announcements to see what games it has. If halo 6/Gears is release on X1 and the next Xbox with a great announcement of games and specs, its anyone's game.

It has a good chance to dominate if it has backwards compatibility. No more than $450 with a 2TB HDD and external HDD support. Also continue with the 4K HDR.

This is about next-gen

All they need is a decent price and BC and they will dominate as most PS4 owners will just upgrade to PS5 and keep their digital libraries. Sequels to their big hits like GOW, Spiderman, TLOU, HZD, etc. also ensure PS5 will be launching with plenty of games to look forward to. Out of all the big 3 Sony is in the best position to dominate next gen.

I believe it. As long as Xbox management stays the same as it is, they'll never get ahead. If the Netflix model doesn't work out, it's gonna be another gen of discounts just to give the Xbox brand a pulse.

Does dominating even matter? The box in your living room isn't a basketball team, its not like there is a championship at the end of the year. Unless you count the stupid ass critics awards, as if they mean anything.

Biggest reason they will win(maybe not dominate): All 100 million+ PS4 owners will want their library to carry over... Same goes for the Xbox One owners. Second will be the exclusives, which are already mentioned. I don't think power will mean as much next gen.

Real power? The PS5 will be outclassed by what I have in my PC right now. What the Switch has is quality games. The PS5 will be playing catch-up from it's beating from the Xbox One X. And I don't care to play any more movies right now...

I have way too many games on PC I have yet to play and from the looks of things with next-gen, it sounds like I'm not going to missing much and I'm pretty content with staying PC/Nintendo Switch. Nothing against the upcoming PS5, but I still have so much to do on PS4.

@lundy86_4: I think MS have learned from their mistakes, and will come out really strong in 2020. They have what looks like a pretty bold hardware strategy going forward, unlike the XB1 launch which was probably fuelled by arrogance after the highs of the 360.

Add to that all the developers they've been acquiring, and it seems like they're in it to win it.

@davillain-: I don't get that. I expect the PS5 to have lots of quality exclusives. Maybe just wait a couple years but I'm pretty sure it will be worth owning.

@blackhairedhero: No doubt it will be worth owning, but if he's enjoying the PS4 then waiting can't hurt. At least until backwards compatibility is announced, or even when the inevitably superior hardware revision comes out in year 2 or 3. By then the games will be cheaper also so that's a plus.

That's what I usually do with consoles, with the exception of the Switch which was an impulse buy. Didn't get a 3DS until 2019 and everything is super cheap now.

Then again, a new system coming out is exciting for sure so I can definitely see why people don't want to wait. PS4 backwards compatibility seems like a sure thing anyway, so that's nice.

Jim Ryan, (remember the guy that said who wants to play old games? and we have to protect the children from cross play) is now head of Sony Interactive. Also lots of other changes in their management. So with that guy in charge good chance there is no BC. (But you guys never cared anyways right?)

Also Sean Layden said there will be fewer games from now on (Yet they will be bigger budget). Yet another reason to skip E3, and screw the fans and marketing partners. How long until the 3rd party support that got Sony so far this gen leaves them? Let's not forget the biggest selling PS4 bundles have been Call of Duty, FIFA, Star Wars, Bat Man etc not the exclusives.

The fact that you need to list BC as a "feature" is the reason why consoles are a joke in the first place.

Based on what we can learn from history, the PS5 will dominate, but really it is too early to convlude anything, and you are just speculating. The PS4 had an easy win, but the next gen will be a harder battle.

This thread is showing the cows hypocrisy. Remember all the no one cares about BC posts from cows, and the nobody buys a new console to play old games posts? Now the hardcore cows (and the cow alts) are all for BC with the PS5.
