Wow, near instant load times from PS5 menu screen to title to loading save in Spidey Miles Morales. Mind blown at the speed of this game.

Well it is downloading last gen dlc so.

Not bad. seems PS5 is loading games to a playable state in about 2-2.5 seconds if this and NBA 2K21 are anything to go by.

We have auto resume which is around 8secs from game to game.

Solid load times. Definitely gonna be a huge jump from my Pro, as well as with using an M.2 drive in my new PC build.

Also there's more to starting a game up than just loading textures. Game startups from cold start will always take a few seconds. What was important was the 2 second load from the save file.

I think I remember Sony saying that you could launch a game using the latest save file from the home screen and it skips all that splash screen, main menu stuff and loads you save right away. If that's still a thing, then this could go from a 15-20 second process to s 6-7 second one click action.

Best part is that you can turn the console off, wake up the next day & turn the console on again, hit the game icon from the game you were last on & the game loads in a second right where you left off in game.

The only exception to the rule are games that are always online connected like the Division 2 as they will always take you back to the menu.

It just sounds sad pretending 2TFs and the 16 extra CUs won't make a difference. Then using launch games as proof as well. Come on man.

I don't know. This SSD speed thing isn't impressive to me for either consoles. I've been used to gaming on a SSD for my PC for years. Don't start with this Sony's SSD architecture will make it blazing fast. Me loading in several seconds faster than another console or gaming PC isn't a biggie.

Now jumping from game to game in frozen states, that seems pretty cool on the Series X but I don't really game hop that much to begin with. I try to focus on a game and get through it due to my gaming backlog. I'll tell you what will amaze me though for next gen...if 2K (NBA) can load in the park superfast and fix their fk'n servers.

@sakaixx: Gears 5 takes 7 seconds. No one care about a few seconds. Performance is where it matters and XSX is a more powerful machine and will perform better. No loading drive will help that.
