The rest of the year is fine because sony's been delivering games since launch..

there's enough to play and they'll start pumping out more games early next year..

If we are comparing Switch to mobile in Japan, we gotta compare PS5 and Xbox to mobile too. Switch is murdering PS5 and Xbox, so mobile must really be doing a number on PS5 and Xbox in Japan. Why not make the full comparison if we are gonna go there?

It’s all good. It was just a NPD thread with a slight jab at Xbox in the thread title. Lems needed to be brought back to earth after they “won” revenue the month before. I take that back, they claimed the “won” the NPD for the month. Well now they’re back in 3rd across the board… And they’re quiet again. Does revenue mean more to them than unit sales now? I’m sure we’re back to subscription numbers > revenue and sales.

sony's supply is constrained just like MS and japan has a portable fetish..

when the chip shortage is over and sony starts pumping out games again then we'll see then back on top in US..

For those who don't know, PlayStation is big in the UK.

Just call it a draw. Nintendo dominates Japan while PlayStation dominates the UK.

Things is extremely competitive between the Nintendo brand and the PlayStation brand in the American Market. Both brands are on top of the world I just wish the Fanboys are both Brands would just stop belittling each other and admit that both companies usually are neck-and-neck each generation when you factor in handhelds and home consoles as 1 competitive market. Both companies do amazingly and both companies flopped extremely hard with the Wii U and the Vita. Just admit that is nearly a draw between these two

Meanwhile Sony has abandoned it's Japanese gaming base, which it literally rescued in the PS1 days. Sort of a shame really. I hope they recognize this and change soon

A guy I know told me yesterday how fantastic his new PS5 is. Haptic feedback, great games and whatnot. I dunno, I still don't see enough compelling reasons to buy a PS5. My PS4 does just fine.

Sony has always done well in Europe, UK included. The PS3 sold more in Europe than the Xbox 360 and the Wii actually. The only time Nintendo has done better than Sony as far as the European markets as a whole goes, is with their handhelds.

I wouldn't be surprised if its the same all over Europe tbh. But then the only alternative if they cant have a good gaming PC is a Nintendo or XBOX console so cant say I blame them.

@gym_lion: Ah ah no. Japan has sold more consoles than Germany, the UK, France, and Spain put together. The UK isn’t just as important as Japan in gaming. Japan is by far the second biggest market after the US/Canada.

@nintendoboy16: To put things into perspective, both the NES and SNES were defeated by the Sega Master System and Mega Drive in the UK, and the Wii was defeated by the Xbox 360 in the UK. Nintendo has never won a console generation in the UK. Still, Nintendo is way more popular in the UK than Xbox is in Japan. But not popular enough to actually win a console generation. Although Nintendo did at least dominate handhelds in the UK like everywhere else (up until smartphones took off).

Conversely, the UK is the strongest Xbox market outside of the US. The UK is the only market where Xbox has ever won a console generation, with the X360 beating the Wii in the UK. The X360 could never beat the Wii anywhere else, not even the US.
