PS4 sales: 20.2 Million and waiting

Sony has announced that as of March 1st they have sold 20.2 Million PS4 consoles, which is apparently a lot since it was just at 18.5 million in january

The PS4 continues to show the "fastest and strongest" growth in the history of all PlayStation hardware, Sony said.

"We are so grateful for the enormous support from PlayStation fans worldwide, and we are truly humbled that gamers around the globe have continued to select PS4 as the best place to play," PlayStation executive Andrew House said in a statement. (lol)

PS4 is fine its living great off triple AAA multiplats and its just clean cut good well rounded system it doesnt need good exclusives its living other peoples hard work and just delivering a platform basically

I told myself I'd buy a PS4 if there were at least 5 exclusives for it, so far I have Ratchet, Disgaea 5 and Uncharted 4, need 2 more and I was never a fan of the souls games so I don't think I'd like Bloodborne very much.

I haven't turned on my ps4 in at least 4 months.

I hope something pops in.

must be lots of bored people. booted up mine for 2 days, beat the order (waste of 60 bucks, what a piece of crap) and haven't turned it on since. one day... one day i'll use it. sigh

I could have sworn there were some ppl in the "X1 discount" thread the other day saying "LIKE OMG ARE PPL SERIOUSLY BASHING THIS NEWS!?!?!"....and here we are with no aggressive news just a good report on how well the Playstation brand is doing and there are the same ones being negative.

Good on Sony....they made a great little machine and I've had fun with the games.

Holy shit, great sales. I'm sure Sony is happy as the Playstation brand is really strong for them right now. People need to keep in mind the running fees for the gen and the royalties Sony cuts off each game. This is growing a very rich ecosystem for Sony. It is the best of the next-gen hardware, so it's not surprising.

Hopefully the install base means it will get some fucking games at some point.

I pre-ordered my PlayStation 4 (as part of a bundle with KZ: SF) and received it the week after it was released. However, I must admit that I was underwhelmed by my initial experience with it, as KZ: SF lacked the intensity and excitement that characterized KZ2. inFmaous: Second Son changed my feeling toward the console, due to its impressive graphics (for a console), brilliant gameplay, and down-to-earth characters. So, as I await more exclusives, I am currently satisfied with the stylish and well-built machine.

Considering the sheer number of games the PS4 has been getting, this isn't surprising. I think the PS4 PS+ service has been helping out as well (36 PS+ games and counting) when compared to GWG's 12 games and counting.

Just got to keep rolling out exclusives like this month's Bloodborne and they are set.

The PS4 is getting a lot of games (more than the competing machines), 245 games so far and growing.

On an completely separate subject, the PS4 imo does need more exclusives though, yes. It's got games covered, exclusives are needed. This month's exclusive is Bloodborne.

It's not counting PC if I remember but it's not my site to change, but I would generally ignore aspects you may not like which include that category.

It's just a nice game counter for easy and general use. It also have a nice PS+/GWG (36 PS+ to 12 GWG) counter as well.

I don't know why the sales are so high for PS4, I can only guess. I would guess the sheer amount of games over the competition is certainly one of the reasons.

Congratulations. You own an Xbox and claim your not a Sony fanboy. Yet you attack me for suggesting that Sony is trying to steal NA thunder by releasing this bit of news for global sales. They go 6 months sometimes without releasing global sales and then when Microsoft does well they release numbers in Nov, Jan, and March.

After game after game flopping, it's always a good decision for Sony to talk about hardware sales. Talking about hardware sales alone will sway their fans to buy the console even more. With these steady hardware sales they don't have to lower their prices, maybe they could even price it even higher and not include anything in it. Hopefully they could some how use this PS4 momentum to try to get people in buying Vitas too.

I'd make a comparison between the PS4 and the Wii...but that wouldn't be fair, since the Wii actually had some great exclusive games in its first few years.

Still waiting for Bloodborne.

I haven't touched my PS4 since I finished the last of us in september. I'm not wasting my money on destiny shadow of mordor evil within dragon age or watchdogs. It's all mediocre generic shit I'm waiting on bloodborne.

I think its been longer than 4 months. I should probably update it before Bloodborne comes out. It is probably going to be a long one.

I don't think I am going to touch my xboxone until Forza. I haven't turned it on since a week after the halo 5 beta ended.

I don't remember the first two years of a console launch being this horrendous in terms of exclusives.

As a console I like it a hell of a lot more than my Wii U. Game library is shit at the moment. But in three weeks that changes.

let's talk about sets, na market is a subset of the global market set, one could say NA is contained in the global market (shocking, i know) therefore the global market set is more important than a fraction of it since it is contained in it, GLAD WE COULD CLEAR THIS UP.

Isnt an irony when the "waiting" console has 60+ AAA/AA games at metacritic to choose from when X1 has 30+ AAA/AA ... Almost half !!

Personally i prefer to wait a bit now and have a solid ride till next gen later , similar to the end PS3 had where it provided apparel quality exclusives few months before PS4 gets a release , than being in life support for years with literally no games to play while waiting next-gen to come ( Wii anyone ? )

We are only 1 year into this generation ! The hammer will be heavy soon enough and for the rest of this generation. Get used to it !

The PS4 has been an "OK" compliment to my PC so far, but if it was my only gaming machine I'd be kinda pissed too. Honestly if you owned all 3 consoles last year I think it would have been underwhelming trying to find enough to play. At least BB comes soon, ****ing sucks worse if you just own an XB1 or a WiiU, we're in far enough now that its inexcusable we're not seeing more software.

If people actually liked nintendo's games it wouldn't be in last place. PS4 has the best game library right now and for the rest of the gen. Deal with it.

Right. Nobody likes Mario Kart 8. Or Super Smash Bros. Those games haven't sold like 4-5 million copies on a 9 million system install base. Oh, nobody likes Wind Waker HD, either. That didn't have a bundle that sold out. And nobody likes 2D Mario games. Those don't sell like crazy. And nobody liked Bayonetta 2. That wasn't one of the most critically acclaimed games last year. Everybody hated that game.
