4K TV Gaming? What does that even mean?
Wow... people really have PS4 Pro on the brain of late...
Pro has some games that are native 4k and some that aren't
Pro streaming services are native 4k and some aren't.
Sony have to market the consoles features in their entirety, that means marking it as a 4k console for those games that are naive 4k.
What is Sony's responsibility is to ensure they use a disclaimer saying that resolution varies between software, which they do in the below advert
'Game resolution depends on software'
That's the bases covered.
What will Lems narrative be when PS5 outputs native 4k? You guys realize you're running out of ammo. Better hope Scarlett knocks it out the park with games next gen or you're going to regret all this 4k talk. Funny thing is 95 percent of Lems are playing on standard Ones. Keep touting Xbox One X as if it's the only console though. You do realize at 500 bucks, One X is priced out of the market right?
Yeah putting “TV” in there seems pretty strange. Why not just say, “4K Gaming & more”?
Especially because you can play a NES classic on a 4K TV. Hell, anything that "outputs gameplay" fits this marketing description...
You're going to have to explain this post and your .GIF as I don't get it.
Don't all video game consoles "output gameplay" to a 4K TV? "PS4 Pro outputs gameplay to your 4K TV" has to be one of the least exciting, biggest nothing-burgers I've ever seen in an ad.
@goldenelementxl: Yeah that plus couldn’t you also hook up a PS4 to a monitor. I just can’t see the rational of putting “TV” in there.

They done a good job in the past with legit disclaimers.
Recently not so much, its more and more dodgy bending the truth. But unless they get told they will continue to do it. 4k is the buzz words at the moment.
It means it's gaming on a 4k TV, not 4k resolution. It's a dodge.
The Switch does 4k TV gaming too.
It's there because not all PS4 games will run at 4k.
LOL at desperate lemmings nitpicking over words in advertisements. Bigger LOL that they can’t comprehend them or understand the disclaimers.
You guys are really scraping at the bottom of the barrel to get one over on PlayStation.
You sound like that guy on n4g who complained about a calendar symbol for PSNow. Get a life. :)

Maybe it's your lack ability to read the paragraph as a whole instead of the first sentence.
And I can think of quite a few older consoles that can't output to a 4k TV..... some 4k TV's, like mine as I only have HDMI connections making connecting up older machines impossible without buying additional converters.
@scatteh316: They don't "do" dynamic 4k anymore. The disclaimers are gone, and the ps4faux now does "4k TV".....

So they can output to a 4K TV...
I was 4K TV Gaming on my N64 just this past weekend!

Cows did the same exact thing when Xbox marketing guy said the Xbox outputs all games at 1080P. So it is okay for Sony to do it and not Microsoft? All I can do is roll my eyes at fanboys and how hypocritical they are.

My screen grap was taken only a few weeks ago.... so unless they've changed it over the last 2 weeks they are still doing it.
No they can not...... a converter is not part of 'they' or 'it'....... They...lack the digital video output for it......
And the fact you're even arguing against it is retarded.
Or the TV lacks the input. But the issue is easily solved with a few dollars. Or a gaming enthusiast like myself has tons of these things lying around the house...
The NES, SNES and Playstation classic consoles will all have HDMI out, so are they 4K gaming machines like the PS4 Pro? They are all capable of "4K TV Gaming" because they "output gameplay to your 4K TV"
And don't use the R word, it's not nice
yeah the ads are just silly. Every console I own can output to my 4k Tv xD I play NES games on my 4k Tv using a Retron 5
Like the ps3 and 360 offered HD TV gaming. Or the x1 offers 1080p TV support for that matter.
Not sure why this is a scandal suddenly for the x1x adopters.
Come on, you know why...
System Wars has been Resolution Wars since 2013. We killed Greenberg for this...
But now, marketing output resolutions and dancing around details is fine?

So? It's up to the consumer to have atleast half a brain and read between the lines. It means it outputs to a 4k tv. Nowhere does it say you will play in a native 4k resolution. It's called marketing, everybody does it.
Why not just say, “4K Gaming & more”?
Because then they would have to guarantee that every game plays at a native 4K; but by saying that it merely output to a 4K-TV allows them to falsely give the impression that every game is native 4K but without outright lying. It's called marketing, and the defense is, "What we stated is true. We can't help it if naive consumers misunderstood even though our misleading ad copy was deliberately written for that purpose."
WOW! that PS4 'sold separately' vertical stand is £16. £16 for a little bit of plastic seems quite steep!

There's also a lot of Sony fans leaping to Sony's defence but they (you included) would be shitting out nitpicks if this had been MS.
Well I admit: it's pretty funny when you get it.
They aren't advertising that PS 4 Pro plays every game at 4K, just that PS4 pro plays games on a 4K-TV, which is true.
Won't a standard PS4 work on a 4K screen then?
