North America for month after month had been dominated by the Xbox 360 console, which repeatedly outsold the competition. As a new generation kicks off, however, Sony is hoping to establish a new pattern. Today, it's been confirmed that PS4 did indeed lead all console sales in November.

"PlayStation 4 sales in North America and worldwide have been incredibly strong since launch, culminating in PS4 being recognized as the largest console launch in history. That's not really a surprise, as the PS4 has been out longer then the XBox One. The question is, "by how many units were they ahead." What are the full numbers?

It would be even more fun if we actually new the total numbers. With a full weeks head start the PS4 should be ahead. That's a no brainer.

PS4 2.1 mil in almost 30 countries. Xbox One over 2 mil in only 13 countries......ouch sony.

This will be good...but the pudding will be November and Decembers numbers combined...

@Sweenix: sadly i think we can rule out the vita. we can probably rule out the wiiu also.

as mentioned its either the 360 or 3DS. probably the 360 though pokemon was released for the 3DS this year which could be a popular present. its a hard one to call

not surprised at the PS4 beating out the X1 though. the momentum i think is very much behind sony. MS have done a good job covering up their earlier sumbles but people may not forget that quickly. last E3 (which would be more influential at this stange in a console cycle since most people buying a new console are more dedicated fans) MS left the goal wide open for sony and sony got the ball in the back of the net (nintendo remained unconerned :P. well ok they didnt turn up.).

I think he's talking about 18 days total for each system. Sony announced 2.1 million 18 days after the PS4 launched and Microsoft announced 2 million 18 days after the XB1 launched. Of course the PS4 is going to be ahead, because they launched first and they launched in more countries. That's just common sense.

Sony's numbers were actually 14 days, and those 14 days only included 1 day of europe numbers.

Both companies announced their numbers 18 days after launch. Neither company specified the number of days include in the total. We don't know if Sony's number included just the Nov 29th launch day or the weekend as well. Sony hasn't said anything about that. You have a link?

I'm beginning to think Sony is opting out of sharing their retailer sales data, instead probably going to choose when to give their shipped total instead, then in their fiscal quarterly reports start combining PS3 and PS4 sales.
