1. PSN is free, Wii is free, most PC games (unless they are MMO's) are free online. I bet you PC gamers take gaming more seriously, many of them build their own freakin computers!

2. If Microsoft won the format wars, the 360 would be casual by your logic because HD DVD won. That didn't happen, so yea.

3. Brand loyalty doesn't just apply to Sony..

I pretty much agree that PS3 is a casual system...and I'm fine with that because I'm pretty much a casual gamer. I enjoy the Wii as well. I play games I like and spend time doing other things besides play games all day. It's great.

You're totally right. All this time playing my PS3 and I never realized it was a casual experience because I wasn't paying some useless fee to play online. Thanks for showing me the light bro. I'll be throwing my PS3 in the garbage tomorrow and go get a 360 tomorrow so I can pay for online like a real hardcore gamer

Well sony makes more casual Buzz/Singstars for PS2/PS3/PSP than Nintendo makes at times

and it is heavily marketed as a BR for its early years but now really as a games console but you do see a lot of its marketing for BR movie playback

plus, adding features like netflix is only trying to expand your market more

things like Eyepet, the PS Wand are clear attempts to expand the PS3 market even more, heck why even invest in 3D? seriously 3D TVs that are 15inches cost like $1000 plus now.

You'd be a fool to think Sony doesn't want casuals and to expand their market

They spent 3 years putting a lot of resources into core games and they're still third place, barely making up ground on the Xbox 360/Wii
