@pinkribbonscars: As a heads up you shouldn't talk about emulation on this forum. On a side not what specs are your laptop? Last I checked RPCS3 still had performance issues even on the highest end machines but that was about a year ago.

@lundy86_4:What TV are you using? The only TVs I know of that have 120hz at 1440p are the Samsung QLEDs at 55" and above. I plan on getting a 55" Q70/60R to replace my 49" TCL. I heard the upscaling tech on them is really good so going down to 1440p is hardly as bad as on other TVs. Then again even on my cheap TCL I had no problem using 1440p.

Anyway I've been playing Monster Hunter World on my laptop. I had no idea that there was Final Fantasy 15 DLC in this game. Great surprise for me thinking I was completely done with everything till iceborne.

@NoodleFighter: Got the Sammy Q8FN 55". I got it this year, as the Q9 was completely unreasonable, and the 65" went from $2000CAD to $3000. Really nice TV, but when I got my new soundbar with 4K/60 pass-through, my different setup/settings removed 1440/120. Finally got it working again.

@lundy86_4: I did read that QFN models are better than most of the Q~0R models especially the Q60R vs the Q6FN. I would have gotten a QFN but most of them are gone now the few remaining cost at least $300 more than just getting the new model and the rest are used. This is through Amazon, no local retailer in my area has it and I don't trust mail delivery of TVs I see a lot of reviewers complaining their TVs coming busted up because the delivery people didn't handle them with care. Plus I got a relative working as a seasonal hire at Best Buy and they said they'd use their employee discount to buy a TV for me in their name when they get it and apparently they get pretty steep discounts on the high end TVs.

Is the audio that comes with the TVs themselves any decent? I plan on using this a monitor in my bedroom. I'd rather minimize as much space as possible. If that's not the case I likely won't go with a soundbar and just get some $50 PC speakers.

@NoodleFighter: Getting a decent discount would heavily sway me as well. I was fortunate that my BB stocks all the high-end stuff.

I've actually not tried the speakers... I used my old Sammy soundbar for a while, before I upgraded to the Sony HT-ST5000.

I was gonna hold off on this game, but I couldn't help it. I'm weak when it comes to games sometimes. It is pretty though. The game itself is, well, okay so far. I don't know why it has more climbing than Uncharted and Tomb Raider combined so far.

I ended up turning off the chromatic aberration for it too. It went kind of hard on my eyes.

Yeah, the blur effect looks very exaggerrated. Would probably turn it off completely myself..

I also turn off the Blur but I still get this as well when sliding down the hill top but I don't think it's the same when I'm in the ice mountains.

@warmblur: Nice shots. The Nvidia Freestyle filters are amazing. I love them. No need to bother with installing and trying to get ENB to work in games now, can just freestyle and tons of games support it.

Thanks, yeah man I'm looking forward to trying it with other games ENB and SweetFX was a hassle alot of the time trying to get them to work .The freestyle filters makes it so much easier it's one of best things Nvidia has ever done.

Maybe the game just wasn't popular enough so they never made one.

Fun fact, internally Valve referred to Alyx as Halflife 3 and it uses a recreation of audio from the end of Episode 2.

From my summation, It will be Halflife 3, they just aren't calling it that to temper expectation and soften the reaction of VR.

@uninspiredcup: In that case I'll never play Half Life 3. I'm simply not interested in wearing a headset on my head to play games.

Isn't it a prequel to HL2? Wouldn't that make it Half Life 1.5?

The trailer uses dialogue of when Eli Vance was killed (with the new voice actor saying the line) and it's strongly implied from Halflife 2 that Morgon Freeman was in limbo for 20 years, along with teleport causing a delay in time.

My theory is that it does a deus ex machina where-by Episode 2 is cancelled out.

The developers stated "While it does take place before the events of Half-Life 2, we actually recommend that you play through Half-Life 2: Episode 2 before you play Half-Life: Alyx, for reasons that will become clear as you progress"

Technically speaking as well, the episodes were suppose to be Halflife 3, so this is more like Halflife 3.5.

Or you know... Eli Vance said the line once before, and before he said it in Episode 2?

And no, the Episodes were still using script that was all meant to be part of Half Life 2. So neither Episode 1 nor Episode 2 are Half Life 3.

I don't understand this sentence.

It's not the recording from Episode 2, it is the new voice actor delivering the line.

Though it may end up being waffle, it's not really a wacky theory, it's very obvious Halflife 2 used manipulation time right down to the very opening line of the game, "I didn't you see you get on".

The concept was most likely inspired from Quantum Leap where Sam Becket was inserted through time, just as the Gman concept himself was inspired from the X-files, a pop-culture phenomenon in the 90's.

The episodes were Halflife 3, Valve themselves stated it, it was the community who came up with "Halflife 3", failed episodic model to deliver content faster.
