Poll Poll: Do you think AAA Cloud AI is an eventuality? (19 votes)

Definitely. 37%
Probably. 16%
Maybe. 16%
Unlikely. 11%
Nope. 21%

Check this out. Google Duplex; Google is trying to make Duplex AI less creepy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgksCRiRlsI

Imagine an open world AAA game where you can have a partner or two where you can have very natural, dynamic conversation and commands. Two AI controlled partners/teammates could even talk to each other and assess situations and even joke around and they won't sound "robotic".

Might work as a funny/buggy game.

Offline mode is still possible but the conversation and commands become more basic and traditional. Meat of the game is still there at least.

I believe this is an eventuality but might not happen next gen.

I'm not sure if this worked enough with the 1st titan fall.

To be honest, some of these games could just have a community based AI tactics sharing like how gamers share bot settings. Dragon Age Origins was kinda doing it but BioWare dumbed them down for every new entry.

True. I got excited after that Google Duplex thing. Well scared and excited at the same time.

MS talked about it too during E3. The implications are tempting, but as with everything in gaming, who knows if it will happen any time soon, or at all.

That would cool if they able to incorporate into the next gen. Or into Google creating some video game streaming console into the next future. The Al will drastically change by a long shot.

Yeah this poll was made before the whole Google news or rumor. I definitely think it's an eventuality and more so if Google is serious about this. Maybe after the PS5/XB2 gen but not necessarily from MS/Sony.

This is a foregone conclusion. The only question is "when?"

When'd be your guess? I'm guessing it's only really good after next gen (PS6/etc.).

PS5/XB2 could have some semblance of it, much better than TF1 implementation at least but might not be an early next gen title.

Seems most in the poll aren't sure but those that are is almost at 40% though.

@j2zon2591: I would guess by ps6 or ps7 gen at the latest, not just AI, but almost everything will be done via the cloud. Essentially it comes down to whenever a sufficient % of the target market has access to reliable enough internet to make streaming services viable.

Fiber internet is about to come to my area, and in theory the ping from the server would not be any slower than running it locally. At least not at any level that’s perceptable to me.

Nice. I hope Fiber there would be competitive in pricing.

I think there are gameplays that aren't as sensitive with latencies but I'm not sure if they'd okay for mass market of console gamers; turned based is one but may there are more real time games that can just que commands and the gameplay isn't really hampered much. At least for early AAA AI Cloud based games.

Might be also an interesting test bed if there are already enough consumers that can be profited upon that requires certain quality of connection.

Yes, this will be one of the staples of VR games as time goes on. Characters that react to everything you do, from body language to interaction to verbal communication.
