It's not even the best soundtrack this year.

Almost everything in Persona, for one. I could probably list off a few dozen games I think have better soundtracks.

Its good. But that's about it.

a) It's not even the best soundtrack of the year (Fire Emblem, A Link Between Worlds, Assassin's Creed IV, and Metal Gear Rising were all great)

b) You missed out on the best Pokemon X/Y theme- Route 18!

c) Zelda>>>Pokemon, COME AT ME BRO

The soundtrack was, of course, quite good but other games in the series have better ones, and even then I wouldn't say any Pokemon game has the all time greatest soundtrack.

The biggest issue with the Pokemon soundtracks is that, to me, at least, the best music enhances a strong story moment or emphasizes an especially important area, or something along those lines. Pokemon's story's are usually mediocre at best, so the music just can't serve it well enough to make them achieve all time great status. Don't get me wrong, the series has a fantastic soundtrack, but the lack of good context lessens the impact of the music than in, say, Zelda or Final Fantasy.

Persona ain't this year though, unless you live in Europe :P

Yes it did, one of my favorite soundtracks in video games. The one on X and Y was a letdown like the rest of the game. I mean damn.. ending theme was awesome in black, gym leader theme was awesome with a classic twist, Elite 4 theme was bad ass, N's Final theme was the shiet!, that Blue remix was awesome and the champion theme is great. The legendary theme had this rush to it too of some sort of epic fight.

No pokemon game with that limited fake instrument engine can gain a best soundrack metal. Even back when it was possible on the original GB.

The early Zelda games, as in before and including The Wind Waker, have fabulous soundtracks, as do Final Fantasy VI and VII. Actually, anything by Koji Kondo and Nobuo Uematsu is usually gold. Yasunori Mitsuda is fantastic too, listen to the soundtracks of Chrono Trigger and Xenogears. Yoko Shimumura is also really good.

@Joedgabe: yevetal/xerneas' theme is the best legendary theme in the series.

X and Y's soundtrack doesn't stand out to me that much besides a few songs. It's mostly orchestral and soft because it fits the region, but Unova's rock/dubstep-tinged soundtrack was pretty great in B2W2.

Xenoblade has a better soundtrack.

@charizard1605: only one that could be better is Ho-oh's theme in HGSS. Aside from that none of them feel nearly as hype

I actually just heard the Castle Crashers soundtrack recently. It was amazing.

The Ho-oh theme, the Lugia theme, the Legendary Beasts theme, Dialga/Palkia battle theme are all incredible. I'm not saying the Xerneas/Yvetal battle theme isn't great. it is. It's just not the greatest.

Not even the best in its series. B/W is still rocking it as number 1. Colress theme, N theme, whats his face main villains theme, all were amazing

But I bought my 14 yr old daughter the Mario & Luigi Dream Team 3DS XL Bundle, Pokemon X, and Animal Crossing - New Leaf for Xmas.

She told me she absolutely loves Pokemon X, so I may have to give it a try.
