Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon mini hype thread and it's a hit or a miss to the fans! GS gives it a 8/10!

I'll just keep it simple since this isn't really new when it comes to Pokemon Expansions, this is just continuing Pokemon Sun/Moon.

Truth be told, I'm not even somewhat hype for Ultra versions at all. Pokemon Sun/Moon wasn't the worst Pokemon game, just disappointing is all I'll say. I didn't have much hype in the first place, honestly. Perhaps I got so used to the disappointment brought by the 3DS games that I didn't even bother getting hyped this time around lol.

So SW, are you buying Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon?

Hmm. Pokemon Sun is the first and only Pokemon game I really enjoyed playing.

But I don't know about buying a slightly altered version of it again.

Depends on how much they changed. (I bet they changed more than the marketing showed us.)

I bought and enjoyed Pokemon Sun.

Might be willing to check out Pokemon Ultra Moon depending on what has changed/how much has changed.

I might sell my copy of Sun and buy the ultra version. We'll see.

GS gave it an 8/10. Might double dip on this somewhere in January but not right now.

Not picking these up because I don’t have a 3DS, but it’s funny that both the cons are essentially the same thing.

Pokemon Sun was the most disappointing Pokemon game ever for me. Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon are just more of the same, so I'm not excited, to be honest.

You're not alone on this. To me, Pokemon Moon wasn't the worst Pokemon game, just disappointing. I'll still buy Ultra Moon but not this year however.

So, what are the things you disliked about Sun and Moon? I could name so much about it but I'll keep it as minimum as possible:

• Too much handholding and railroading
• Too many cutscenes/dialogue
• The removal of PSS in favour of Festival Plaza
• Less than 100 new pokemon. Which I like to add that a handful of them have very low encounter rates.
• The region feels small
• Terrible post-game
• Kanto in general.
• The story

And I'll stop here for now. It baffles me on how SuMo got a high score and people claiming it to be the best generation.

Ooh does it have hardcore turn based jrpg combat?

No, after playing moon after a long pokemon hiatus, I noticed I don't enjoy them anymore, so no, I won't buy them and probably won't buy another pokemon game.

They're somewhat alright.

Not the best in the series, in fact I think they're a huge step down from Gen VI, especially in terms of variety and game mechanics. But they're not terrible either. I'd say they're quite similar to Black and White - story heavy, not much variety, and alot of handholding indeed, but it ain't the worst Pokemon game I ever played, just wasn't what I expected. Region is very linear, Hey look! New town, let's explore! Nope, we gotta follow Lillie to the Pokémon Center first. Yawn. Lillie felt like I was a slave to her is what I got out of Moon. Calling for help was a pain that drags battle for so long. I been playing Pokemon games for 20 years and from Red/Blue/Yellow to Sun/Moon, I guess I was so used to battling Gyms for so long, I didn't mind the rinse/repeat Gym battles to be replace by Trails.

Yeah, totally man!

Just have to do alot of annoying breeding and tolerate superficial annoyances just to get there

Gonna pass on this, X/Y were generally okay quirky but overall enjoyable sun/moon felt off for me, felt overly linear and some mechanics were just silly I.E calling for help. Heart gold/soul silver remain the best examples from the franchise imo.

give that Pokemon Sun & Moon teet a rest already...lol...milked too much...Ultra?..what next MEGA ULTRA? :P
